meetings in city hall all the time. so having a very open process. second of all, managing our budget in a very financially responsible manner. as mayor lee mentioned we want to plan as spouses for the long haul in san francisco and this is about the long-term security of our city, both in terms of the services we provide and residents that we serve and we want to make sure that the public has confidence that we are managing our dollars and taking a long-term perspective of our city's financial health. and lastly, making sure as mayor lee also mentioned that our budget reflects the priorities of our city, today and tomorrow. the budget more than anything is really a testament about our priorities and priority document and what we value as a city and making sure that our budget reflects that 100% is so important. so we're going to continue to work together in city hall, both with my colleagues on the board of supervisors, with the mayor, great budget director in kate howard, and we're going to have the budget process and

there are some reoccurring themes at the town hall meetings. we heard from different hiv and aids non-profits and positive resources and they spoke very passionately about the need for funding especially in light of federal state cuts. the living campaign also mobilized a very vocal constituency advocating support for the b top program. this was a federal grant that was responsible for putting computers and tutors in city college neighborhood resource centers and senior centers. this is the way the technology can be a life looik -- line to connect people that don't have access. that grant experience has expired. they have put it in their budget to continue the funding but the advocates did a very good job to make sure our policy makers understood this was a priority. there was also advocacy for continued funding for services administrated by dos including in home services and pedestrian safety was an issue across all communities. we heard from a high school student talked about her friend killed on a crosswalk. she really made the plea that eve

i'm happy to co-host this town hall with supervisor eric mar. i think that both of our districts -- our residents share a lot of the same concerns and we have high populations of children and families, lot of seniors as well as folks from immigrant community. and, so, today i think that it is a great partnership that we have. i also want to thank the department heads who are here as well as our mayor and very hard working budget director having been the legislative aid to former supervisor carmen chueed when served on the budget committee four years, i know how hard it is that all of you worked to put together the budget. ~ who had as you know the mayor and his team will be submitting the budget to the board by june 1st, and, so, i think that we're very lucky that we have a very collaborative mayor and his team who want to hear from you as he's putting the budget together, not after, but during the process so that he can incorporate your feedback into his budget. so, with that, i want to turn it over to our budget chair, supervisor mark farrell.
