john? >> yeah, tyler. big, big day for google. stock up better than 3%. on the other hand, rivals apple down more than 3%. part of the reason why, one of the big announcements from google was a new music service. google play music all access. the pitch here similar to services like spotify is all the music an google's catalog. app users disposal for $9.99 a month. rolling out in the u.s. first. starting june 30th. what's -- well, if you sign up by june 30th, you get the service for a little bit cheaper. what's interesting about this, there's a radio component to it which competes with folks like spotify and pandora. taking a step back, there was more than just music announced here. google also talked about the service that they want to expand google plus, lots of new photo and video sharing features. and overall, this was not about hardware as much as it was last year. last year we talked more about streaming music through the device and this was squarely about services. they rolled out a new version of maps that will be out later in the summer. back to y

john remondi has been promoted to ceo. he succeeds albert lord, who retired earlier than expected. all the buzz before the debut of "google glass" doesn't seem to impress apple's tim cook. he was speaking at the "all things d" conference, and he called the computerized glasses a "difficult product" for the mainstream. he also questioned whether people would be willing to spend $1500 for a pair. google glasses have reportedly been sent to the first group of beta testers in the general public. dell shareholders, be prepared to be persuaded. reports say mich, under, and silver lake partners will contact shareholders directly to persuade them to vote for selling back their shares. that deal would allow shareholders to receive $13.65 a share. but activist investor carl icahn is expected to persuade shareholders to vote against the buyout plan. he holds a large stake in the company and has railed against the deal, calling it undervalued. it's expected that shareholders will vote on this in july. after several headline-making hacks, it seems twitter users are willing to fritter away their chance to protect themselves from future

john. >> absolutely. this is the same story that we saw with youtube just a few years ago. very similar here and it wasn't being monetized when googleots of questions whether it can be monetized and whether the insight people were getting into. video will be worth it as video becomes crucial and yahoo is getting a lot of revenue from video now and the youtooub buy, and open question about whether meyer can do with tumblr was able to do with you tube, but no question meyer knows the playbook on how to make that happen because she was in the executive suite when google was figuring that out with you tube and blogger before that, very quick. >> seeing word press which has worked closely with tumblr. the ceo writing on his blog last night that spiked from imports and there were 72,000 in an hour and i guess the question just becomes while that's a drop in the bucket and the tumblr sells adds every day. does this basically -- is it a sign for users and for people out there more broadly that, you know, time to switch gears and maybe stick with the word press instead. >> i think that's a real danger here especially when you get that younge
