city officials realized there's demand for more unleashed areas for dogs in the city.they are holding a community meeting tonight to discuss the issue. sunnyvale held a survey in the spring asking residents which park should have dog parks, how they should be designed and what amenities should be included. they heard from more than 700 people. dog owners we spoke to say the one dog park in the city needs improvement. >> i just think they could do a little more with it. there's mostly dry dirt in there. i think they could have more greenery. they have the grass on the outer patches. but when it's hot in there, the dogs have nowhere to go. i think they could put a little bit more shelter in there. >>> city officials say sunnyvale has more than 30,000 dogs living within the city limits. the city is recommending that $100,000 from the city apark fund be used to create fenced- off leashed areas for dogs. that public meeting will be held at 7:00 in council chambers and the community is invited to come. reporting live from sunnyvale, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >>
