we had this reaction to the story on the brand-new lights on the washington monument. not feeling the love. we spend all that money for lights on a monument. that money could be used to fire equipment and emergency vehicles. what's more important, lights on stone or lights on a response vehicle? do the math. actually, don, the lights were a gift from a philanthropist. he kicked in $7 1/2 million to pick up the tab so sit back, enjoy. don't do any math. finally this from our good friend robert in herndon who's a bit concerned by what he calls the proliferation of jails. where do they have the authority to detain people on a stopped train? why do people comply? every week there seems to be a story about inspect customers sequestered in a building by a government. if they can confine people without due process everyone would be up in arms. really? due process? it's a train delay, not a jail term. your sentence is to mcginty's address. the address is mailbag@wusa9.com. that is our report. i'll be right back here at 11:00 along with leslie and topper shutt. log on any time
