nbc's monte francis has spent the weekend on the front lines of the fire. and it doesn't seem to be slowing down at this point. >> reporter: well, diane, that's right. several camps are threatened by this fire. we're told that one has been destroyed. that is the berkley tawall me camp. it has been owned and operated since 1922. we found these photos taken before the fire on the website. thankfully the camp and staffers were evacuated before hand and no one was hurt. almost 3,000 firefighters are across this state fighting this blaze. more than half of them are here in tawall me sitting hoping to hold back the flames from this small community. a big change in tactics in the last 24 hours as the rim fire edges closer to the normally sleepy down of tawall me city. they set up a new base camp with a pop haitian of just under 2,000. the city is under an evacuation order, but only about half of the residents have left town. >> you can see that it's not imminent yet, but we haven't gotten a knock on our door. >> reporter: today strong winds pushed the fire now cov

today in the bay's monte francis is there and joins us now with the latest. this has been a very tough fight. >> well, good morning. this may look like a foggy day in the bay area, but it's actually smoke from the fire. there are 2600 firefighters here and more than half of them have been sent to the community of tuwallomy city, that's because today, strong winds could push this fire farther northwest. four homes have been destroyed by the fire so far, but thousands more are threatened. evacuation orders are in effect for several small cities here. the fire is also threatening san francisco's water and power fly because it's burning so close to hedge hetchy reservoir where the city gets most of its water. pg&e had to shut down two hydroelectric plants at risk and the governor declared a state of emergency warning it could cause an interruption of the water service. however, that could change. an official told us last night the fire is burning less than four miles away from the water and it's headed that direction. >> it's quite possible it could reach it with

nbc bay area monte francis is at the scene and joins us with the latest. monte? >> good evening. according to police, four people were shot at about 4:00 this afternoon. we do not know their exact conditions. we can tell you there were no fatalities and that children were not involved. you can see police are here at the scene investigating. the shooting happened here on telegraph avenue in front of a sal loan and next door to oaksterdam university. we are told the call came in at 4:08. less than two hours ago. this crime scene is just around the corner from the 19th street b.a.r.t. station and just a few blocks from city hall. we do not have word of any arrests. we short on details as to the events. the shooting is connected to a purse snatching and bystanders were caught in the cross fire. one man that was shot had just come out of the uptown studios, asa l a salon, after getting his hair cut. telegraph avenue between 16th and 18th streets has been shut down. that's something to be aware of if you happen to be driving in this area. we are still gathering information on what happ
