[ applause ] >> good morning, everyone.ss the suspense is over now. i want to thank everyone for being here today. all the community members, members of the city family, members of the board standing behind me, my parents. my partner justin, but i especially want to thank mayor lee forgiving me the opportunity to represent the district 4. i also have to be completely honest here. this is a very bitter sweet moment for me, as someone who has lived in district 4 for over 20 years, i'm happy to represent the district that i grew up in, but on the other hand as a district 4 resident i'm sad to see supervisor chu leave as my supervisor. everyone says that work is work and you have to separate your personal life from your work life. for me especially in the past five years, work is very personal . when i first started working in district 4, people came to the office and wanted to rebuild the playground. i remember my own fond experiences at west sunset and thought people should be able to enjoy it as much as i did. with the pool

i personally have no doubt that these are genuine pieces from the tang dynasty.i've seen and handled quite a lot of them which are proven to be genuine, and these have all the right features, the right style of glazes. also the provenance. these have been in europe for quite a long time. we can see the head has been broken off here. all of the legs here have been broken through. there's a flake of restoration there. her head has been broken off. they are kind of a bit of a wreck, shall we say. they clearly are not modern copies out of china. i'm delighted to hear what you're saying about-- is it the horseman in particular or both of them, that you think they are genuine? i'm fairly certain both of them. that's terrific, that's terrific. there is, however, only one way of being absolutely sure. there is something called t.l. testing or thermoluminescent testing, which is carried out on the more valuable tang pottery figures and han dynasty figures as well. a small sample can be taken and it can be tested to see exactly when the piece was fired, and that can verify
