i'm john keating. i want to thank you for your public service. all the more so on this important issue. i come to you from 2 perspectives. one is as a native whose spent all my life looking at the parks of our parts and see life that give us our unique civility. [inaudible] tog on my heart that this was a major loss for our city. for the reasons so many have spoken . the loss of civility that we find at ocean beach and other places where people can freely linger. my 2nd perspective is as the attorney who is principally involved in the litigation that forced park service to engage in the public input process. that was important for another reason. that may give you some comfort in what you're doing. what you're doing is a bold move and require that the gg nra do things that they don't ordinarily do which is to listen to you and listen to the public comments. normally we have a system [inaudible] federal agencies of courts and states and towns. in the litigation of fort constant and later in the [inaudible] litigation, the court made a finding that

back in back in the eighty's when the s n l's went down in flames keating went to prison the senators associated with him particular john mccain were humiliated nearly and several of them lost their jobs over this thing keating five right yeah the keating five exactly and and not just him you know reagan had over a thousand prosecutions over six hundred people went to jail many of them for long periods of time and this was for something that was like one one thousandth the size of what happened in the two thousand so why is that during the reagan presidency reagan was not reluctant you know the justice department is not reluctant to send bankers to jail but now they're totally afraid to is does this track back to citizens united in wall street's influence i think it is and i think it also tracks back to the fact that the economic advisers for president obama are essentially the same people who were the economic advisers under clinton it's people who grew up under a guy named robert rubin right which was the deregulation and so he's ascent robert rubin was this guy who worked at goldman sachs all his career then took a s
