our report on this tonight from nbc's gabe gutierrez in tallahassee. >> reporter: convicted killers, charles walker and joseph jenkins, weren't the only florida inmates who used forged paperwork to sneak out of jail. today, authorities revealed at least six inmates have attempted this same scheme. and jenkins tried twice. investigators fear more cases could be out there. >> we will do everything we can to confirm whether there is or is not more. >> reporter: of the seven attempts, three were successful. walker, jenkins and nadid nashadi, a convicted forger freed for 16 hours in 2009 before being caught. five of the seven attempts were from the same prison in the florida panhandle. investigators are looking into tips that inmates could buy the fake documents for as much as $8,000. >> i urge those of you who may have helped them to come forward, talk to us before we find you. >> reporter: detectives have not ruled out the escape plots may have had help from someone inside the system and say the orange county clerk's office is a significant focus of the investigation. many of the fake d

joining us now is the tallahassee correspondent.as forging these documents they used for an executed proper release, roughly about $8,000 to get it done. what more information do you have on that? >> they are still trying to confirm it. it's a tip they received, apparently it was information going around the prison, if you had the money there was someone that would provide the service. they have not been able to confirm that but it is one of the leads they are push suing. >> judge melvin perry, the signature that appeared on these documents, pretty well known with the casey anthony trial within court circles. how are they reviewing prison releases to see if there were other people who were able to slip through the cracks and if this is such a larger problem that has happened there? >> well, they are doing two things. they are looking at other early releases to make sure they are proper, to make sure that people who have been let out were properly released and they are also changing procedures in which these procedures happen. the de
