the park patrol has been the security and the safety contention for that particular facility since it was first brought online. candlestick park is parks and recreation largest facility. it's a huge a very complex building, buildings i can say and the park patrol is responsible for the site security and the building and those inside. they are there 24/7, three different shifts. you can see them out in the parking lot where they are controlling the surveillance cameras throughout the stadium and on game day where they are augmented by the sf p.d. and the private security. since they are there 24/7, they are the site experts and have done a tremendous job, and like everybody in the department they are very short resourced, but they stretch and make it work. i was going through names to call a couple of them out. i don't see any of them here. we have doubled up the security between now and the 23rd. they are resting for coming on tonight. they would have been here. raymond wong and -- others. none of you guys are here, right? >> we appreciate that. that means they are working at the site right now. >> great. anyway we are really grateful to them for the

i'm here to talk about the parks and recreation. there is no safe use of herbicides. they call problems and dysfunction. the danger water supplies. the natural areas program is the worst offender. on this chart, if you can see it, but two herbicides in areas has increased by all measures. in number of applications of pesticides used by 200-400 percent. the data is available to 2012. by the way, it has not database for the documents. the second chart compares the herbicides used for all the departments. it includes the golf courses with the use of the nature areas program and to have the complete picture, you have to control the land of the san francisco which is -- but to have the picture, you have to multiply it by three. the use of that. it will give you about five more the use than the other parts combined. last week there was a use n of herbicides. i don't know what's happening. last month, mid-november there was the use of herbicides in it was milestone. you have an article in milestone. it's so bad that the crops were ruined by the manure from the animals which e

we have don james from parks and recreation. so don is going to discuss so parks and recreation priority projects. >> supervisors, capital director for the san francisco parks and recreation. i have a brief presentation today on the eastern plan for the open space. some of this was covered earlier by the city planning presentation. i think there is one fundamental commitment made as part of eastern neighborhoods. we would create four new open spaces and we are very well poised to follow through on that commitment. as noted in the earlier presentation 17 and folsom is a good example of the collaboration that's gone on between the planning and the parks and recreation and the community , we are able to use those impact fees to secure that site and complete a design. that project is on hold now to make time for the puc to create storm water catch basin underneath the park. once that is complete, we should be able to move forward. i think that spirit of collaboration is what we want to continue to repeat and all the other projects th

park standards. today we'll just go through a few of the results before handing it off to steve. as you know our staff go and do evaluations. we evaluate every park once a year. the parks and recreation staff go out four times a year so every park is rated. we should have up to five scores of each park every year. that's what makes the result of this report. as you can see on this chart, this is over all trend for the last 7 years. what you are seeing from light to dark green are within the quarter within that year and the diamond is giving you the over all score for that year. we are continuing the upward trend and this is the first time since there has been a little bit of movement. 87 percent of the park scores above 85 percent. if a park is getting 85 percent it's in generally good condition. 69 percent have improved. if you compare this to last year, the numbers are different. steve will explain in a few minutes about the reweighting we did in the scores. we retroactively applied it to these scores. so the trend should remain the same. so what you are seeing here is a distribution of parks. in the green we have parks that are over 90 percent and yellow under and red under 80 per

challenge for our district today i'm happy to introduce the resolution that direction the parks and recreation to expand a grant from $670,000 for the design and construction for the improvement to the kes ar triangle park in district 5 and it's already under way to improve the kes ar triangle on the edge of golden gate park. we are also doing improvements to kes ar in general as well as we are steadily working on kes ar drive to ensure we improve that area of the city. the parks and recreation department will be improving the irrigation system and installing new plants and creating accessible pedestrian path ways. all of this is made possible by the hard work and generosity and the group, i not thank them enough for their commitment in our city parks and i want to thank the general manager phil and his staff for making this possible. kes ar triangle should be open early in 2014 and i appreciate support on approving the grant for the project. i'm also introducing a resolution authoring the department of public health to expand a grant from the department of justice in order to participate in a
