for the greater bay area. for the most part we're only expecting shower, areas to the north of the golden gate bridge. then thursday into friday that cold blast rainfall moves in action and let me show you what we're working with. we stop the clock for you starting this morning 6:00 a.m., as you can see we'll see a little bit of activity. it will subside throughout lunch time. then we stop the clock into wednesday night. yep, the main event arrives. 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. the action starts up in the north bay. this is all going to spread to the south as we head throughout tomorrow morning. thursday morning, stop that clock thursday, 4:00 a.m. you can see this, moderate rainfall from palo alto all the way to livermore, san jose starting to get wet at that point, then the rich moisture maintains its organization and we get maybe a quarter inch right here in the south bay. so a quarter of an inch expected, areas in the higher elevations could pick up an inch of rainfall. after the system comes through temperatur

tomorrow mid to upper 60s around the bay area so it's at or near record highs for the bay area yet again as this prolonged dry spell continues. we're unusually warm but as we have already point out, the eastern half of the country is unusually cold. all because of low pressure that's winding around the new england area. there's nothing stopping this cold air from pouring into the midwest. they are going to get some of the coldest temperature readings in 20 years early next week with windchill factors as low as 40 to 60 below zero. that's early next week. so that frigid air is going to pour into the midwest. the 49ers will get the game out of the way before it gets really cold. game time temperature is forecast to be about 4 degrees. and it's going to get even worse the next day so at least they are not playing it on monday. 8:00 tonight we'll look at temperatures that are sweltering by comparison. i hate to even say chilly but low 50s by 8:00 tonight. for us, lows overnight will be from the mid-30s to 50 in the city. mild and sunny weekend. dry spell might be broken but only by that much
