. >>> i want to bring in meteorologist chris knowles in from the weather center tonight. chris, great to have you. you were saying, this rain continues right on through the night. >> that's right, david. another storm is moving into florida. and the entire east coast is affected. a front that stretches from maine to florida. bringing upwards of two inches of rain with this. strong winds, as well. we have ice jam concerns and flooding in the northeast, all up and down the i-95 corridor. but the worst of it is taking place in the southeast. raleigh-durham airport. an 86-mile-per-hour wind gust there. so, strong winds throughout the evening. not to mention the possibility of a few tornados. we've already had reports of some funnel clouds down to the south. >> and, chris, we can't forget the northwest tonight. tens of thousands without power because of the storm moving in there. >> a monster storm. one we like to call, with teeth, david, is moving into the pacific northwest. winds there gusting 60 miles per hour or better. and the snow is a problem. in the cascades, up to two

a sunday tradition from meteorologist chris knowles. >> talk about that and d.c. 51 for a high today.pital. you are looking live at the potomac river. if you look very closely, two eyes on this one, you will see a little bit of ice. it's still out there. but today, 46, warming up to 51. back out to the maps we go. and take a look around the country. the mild weather is part of it across the nation. the highs, most of them mild. we mentioned a little bit of colder air later on this week. but look at what is happening out west. it's a very windy day there. wind watches and advisories all across the western third of the nation, dangerous travel, 40 to 70 mile per hour gusts for the west. the mountains of snow. we hinted yesterday. let's up the forecast to three feet of snow. this is a problem for the cascades, this is the northern rocky issue. by monday, blowing snow and up to three feet of that wet and white stuff out there. across the nation, mild for most, fair in the east. that's the national forecast. >>> this weather report has been brought to you by massage envy spa. oh, yeah. >>

meteorologist chris knowles who is joining us for the weekend is here with the story. great to have you, chris. >> thank you, and good morning, bianna. you know, we have a lot going on today in weather, especially on the east coast where we're expecting a lot of rain. i want to tell you first, though, to some video in florida where the good people in delray beach, boynton beach, 20 inches of rain in just 24 hours. this is a 100-year event there. two people died in this storm. drowning. today, florida a little bit of rain as we head back out to themasment a little bit of drying. a little bit of rain. now the northeast in the path of this rain. big cold front coming through the area, but the concern is the rain. and copious amounts associated with this storm. maybe 1 to 2 inches before it's all over in the east coast, and there we are, new york, all along the i-95 corridor, road and river flooding. ice jams, that's another issue as we'll talk about i think a little bit later. first let's take a look at the severe weather in the southeast. we will note that there has been

. >> not that we don't trust you, but we're going to get official word from chris knowles. good morning. >> good morning. we're going from severe to serene in the southeast, 58 in charlotte and drier. a nicer day for your sunday forecast. look at the temperatures, still mild, 70 in orlando. that's the good news. but with the warmer temperatures, a little bit of bad news in new england, flood watches and warnings in effect. a flood threat. as geo witnessed, ice forms and has to melt. that's happening. ice jams and river rises to be concerned with. head out west for video, to portland, oregon. they have a wind problem. look at the trees down all over the city with wind gusts last night calming down a little bit today. but still wind a problem in the west. back out to the map now, continue to talk about the northwest and the other problem with the winds. also some snow out there for the northwest. it'll be piling up. now, into the inner mountain region. 70 mile an hour winds, and the snow, one to three feet coming up. the return of the polar vortex? >> say it isn't so. thank y
