and their son, michael jr., were all charged with first-degree murder. michael jr. charged because he aided his parents in the planning and commission of the crime. the motive, the slovers were afraid karyn would move out of state, depriving them of time with christopher. based on the forensic evidence, prosecutors believe karyn went to the slovers' car lot to pick up her son. [ shots ] during the dismemberment, buttons from her blouse and jeans fell on the ground. and they used cement and cinders from their lot to give weight to the plastic bags containing karyn's body. some of the dog hair stuck to the tape they used to close the garbage bags and its dna matched the slovers' dog. they dumped karyn's body into lake shelbyville and abandoned her car along the deserted highway. but the forensic evidence linked the slovers to the murder in every imaginable way. >> obviously, this was a highly circumstantial case, but the forensic evidence we had was pretty clear cut. >> although michael jr. was working at the time of the murder, he called his parents 12 times that wee

michael steele. stop! >> i'm just -- >> harold ford jr. and in washington, robert gibbs. let's get to the news. a democratic plan to raise the minimum wage is under fire today after new reports by the congressional budget office. the proposal is to increase the federal minimum wage by about $1 every year until it reaches $10.10. i think that's a great idea, joe, don't you? after that, wages would be adjusted on a yearly basis. he's working very hard on not interrupting me, which i think is really good, because he'll like the point of this story. right now, the minimum wage is $7.25. that's significantly lower than the minimum wage in 1968, which was $10.60, adjusted for inflation. but the big headline from yesterday's nonpartisan report is that raising the minimum wage to $10.10 would reduce total employment by about 500,000 workers. >> right. >> however -- however, the next line in the report states, actual losses could be smaller or larger, ranging from a slight reduction of the employment all the way to 1 million workers. the report also states -- >> i don't see that i
