things are moving along on the beltway in virginia and montgomery county in maryland.d some earlier problems on 270 yesterday. we are getting reports of construction on new york avenue inbound at florida. we are sending our traffic tracker out there. he is moving at a good clip. we will give you a look at it coming up in just a little bit. story we have been following for over a week. more details into the death of a longtime city employee. a side of the story we have not heard yet until now. 4:4 >> checking our top stories. police investigating a couple of homicides. and woman was shot and killed in northeast. her name has not been released. a teenager was shot and killed in southeast on halley terrace. police have not released his name. i fire replaced 45 people in springfield, virginia. it caught fire shortly after 10:30. two people were taken to the hospital but are expected to be ok. it is not clear what caused the fire. we turn to an i-team exclusive investigation. cecil mills collapsed and later died on rhode island avenue just steps from the d.c. fire station.

that is through howard, montgomery county, western maryland from 11:00 tomorrow night into early monday morning. we could be accumulating snow. southern maryland, fairfax, arlington, not under the winter storm watch. however, that does not mean that you will not see any accumulation. we will talk about that coming up. first, tomorrow morning, partly cloudy, 35 to 40 degrees. we will talk about the next seven days where we have not just one storm but a second storm that lingering freezing rain. pentagon has awarded a contract to renovate the site of the navy yard shooting. in september, gunmen killed 12 people inside of the building. a contracted company named chm2m will build a new entrance, remodeled cafeteria, repaint, and re-carpet the building. there will also be a memorial honoring the victims of the shooting. it is expected to be completed early next year. another reason to ease up on the gas pedal in the district -- traffic cameras are now issuing tickets with hefty fines. as of today, the tickets are not just for speeding. richard reeve is live in northwest to tell us. >> we are

we're going to find a lot of problems this morning not only in montgomery county but throughout the d.c. area. here in maryland, more than 2700 plow trucks, salt trucks have been working feverishly for the past 24 hours trying to stay on top of yesterday's storm and of course what fell last night. you can probably still hear the salt and ice crackling. let me show you this road here. a mixed bag truly in the area. you have roadways like 495 that are clear, but take a look at this. this is outpost driver. not one plow has touched this roadway or this neighborhood and we're talking not yesterday during the initial storm, not last night, of course, and this right here where i'm standing, this is still part of the road here. there is not even tire tracks on this section of the road here. when i talk about a mixed bag, i just mentioned that a truck came through here with some salt. dropped down some salt here. look how icy this road is. right up the hill, that road has seen a plow. it is interesting to see the differences and in this neighborhood alone, throughout the area, we have been dealing with a lot of accide

the northernmost parts of montgomery county and loudoun and frederick and washington in maryland pick up 1 to 3 inches from the system tuesday morning. most of the d.c. metro area, most of northern virginia, down through the northern neck and southern maryland, you just see a dusting to maybe two inches. what is unfortunate about this system, well, it's the timing. it's right during the morning rush. look at the high on tuesday. 47 degrees. so you're saying how are we seeing snow? well, we're seeing snow during the early morning hours when temperatures at that point are around 30. so that morning commute, this system is going to have a moderate impact on that. i think ere could be some school delays just because of the timing of it. school cancellations, i really don't see that happening with this storm system. by the time the evening commute comes around, we are going to be just fine. and look what happens on wednesday. a high temperature, 58 degrees. mostly to partly sunny skies. some good news. thursday a high of 56. friday a high temperature around 60. some rain is looking likely
