ms. raman. >> good afternoon, mr. chapman and members of the committee. thank you for the opportunity to appear before the committee today to discuss the department of justice's fight against cybercrime. cybercrime has increased medically over the last decade and our financial infrastructure has suffered repeated cyber intrusions. the recent reports about the massive data breaches at target which the justice department is investigating alongside the secret service, have underscored that cybercrime is a real, present threat, and one that is growing. cybercriminals create botnets that system it was still the personal and financial information of americans. they carry out the stupid denial of service attacks on networks and they still sensitive corporate and military data. the justice department has vigorously responding to this threat to the work of the criminal division's computer crime and intellectual property section which partners with assistant u.s. attorneys offices across the country as part of a network of almost 300 justice department cybercrime p
