we continue our coverage from reagan national airport. >> good morning. jacqui jeras talked about the rain. at reagan national, we are just experiencing the rain and no ice accumulation on the surfaces. that is the good news. two thirds of the country has been sacked by the storm. there's a foot of snow in the midwest in a significant amount of ice moving towards the east coast. that has led to 1300 delays nationwide and 1900 cancellations of flights nationwide. all airports in the washington, d.c. area are experiencing delays and cancellations. detroit, boston, new york, chicago, cincinnati, and houston, are all cities that delays out ofng the major washington airports. if you are traveling and have yet to leave the house, you may want to call your airline to get a sense of if your flight is on schedule. keep in mind that at reagan national, there are delays and cancellations. we have not seen ice on the roadways. that does not mean that you can successfully get out of this airport to some of those locations, either the north wiest -- northeast or midwes

rich edson live at reagan national airport with breaking news. rich: i continue to come to reagan national airport and they are not going anywhere. they have been closed since this morning. they're still trying to dig out the tax ways they hope at some point this afternoon they will allow some flights to take off. dallas airport 20 miles away from here has only one operational runway. nearly 6500 flights have been cancelled, and if you take a look at what else is going on here, pardon me for one second, flight status the entire region 616 cancelled out of charlotte, atlanta, philadelphia, hundreds of flights cancelled there. this is something that has been going on throughout the northeast and continues here, we don't know when we will get back in the air at washington national airport. the other problem is you have the issue of if they do open up the airport there aren't that many plans because they decided the airlines that h depart their plans here last evening. they will have to fly in from elsewhere before the clear out the backlog. back to
