a battle going on right now between the mayor of new york city and new york state about it's over theernor has said he supports universal pre-k but does not want to tax millionaires. the idea of allowing new york city to implement the regime and not doing so for the entire state was repugnant. back with me at the table is bill deblasio. what's the deal here? >> we need pre-k for our kids in new york city. if we expect them to do well academically, we expect them to graduate, be able to be relevant in the modern economy. >> the governor agrees with you. >> i say we need a way to do it that's reliable and consistent. the only way to do it is to tax the wealthiest new yorkers, folks who make a half million or more have a five-year plan that would bring us more every year to bring pre-k to every child that qualifies in new york city. >> i can't let new york city represent this, i represent the entire state of new york, why don't you care about the kids in scenectity and syracuse and -- >> i do, i think we should get full day pre-k up and running in new york city and use it as a model for

it comes back to new york city, the focal point of the u.s.'avel and tourism industry, and you can probably make the same statement for the world's travel and tourism industry. we wanted a property we're proud of that will also make a good return on this investment. >> any return on investment for a hotel depends on visitors to the city. tisch has worked closely with the past two mayors to improve new york's gritty image. he helped kick start the makeover and was on a campaign to bring tourists back since 2011. his efforts seem to be working. new york had 54 million visitors in 2013 and the regency sold out for super bowl weekend about a month before it even opened. but it's not just about keeping hotels full. tisch has tourism is critical for the new york economy. what's it really about? >> it's about jobs. it's about good jobs. it's about the ability for visitors to come spend money so that we can hire more new yorkers. if you look in new york city alone, 330,000 people are making living and some aspect of travel and tourism. and we're also r

"new york times" posts the letter and everyone was writing and talking about it could have their own interpretation of what he was saying. >> that is legitimate. the headline was an overstatement. to think that people now perceive "new york times" as having an adversarial relation ship with christie is interesting. over the course of christie's career "new york times" has treated him pretty fairly. christie has been the darling of the new york media you were referring to. the bigger point is this is now death by a thousand cut

no matter whether you are in detroit and new york, and i have family in new york. cousins andre and morelli. whether it's here at home, coming from a family of law enforcement. i don't want them to be surprised by individuals with arms either. there's a thin line. i believe most officers will adhere to the constitutionality of policing. there are those that take it. unfortunately they go too far. i think that's why it's imperative to have leadership on the civilian side and the department that can uphold the constitutionality of sound policing. >> unfortunately sometimes we talk about abuse of any kind within law enforcement and a community, you almost have to wait until something goes wrong before there's action or outcry. here lies the opportunity. i would venture to say let's not wait until something goes wrong. we have the opportunity to be proactive. i'd urge local communities to reach out. have strong advocacy questions, reach out to the chief of police and ask what are the numbers, how are young boys of numbers being impacted. therein lies the opportunity to
