he took a hard fall while responding to a fire at a police storage unit in mitchellville. news4's richard jordan joins us live from enterprise road with more on the story. good morning, richard. >> reporter: hi, barbara. good morning. this is a large piece of property here off of enterer price road and route 50. there is a golf course on site, horses on the ground, and then there is this whole house here that is now being used as a storage facility. early this morning it went up in flames. prince george's firefighters rolling up the hoses after battling a stubborn blaze. this one-time single-family home is now a maryland park police locker room. the mounted units use it for storage. today, the building and almost everything inside is destroyed. a nearby hydrant was a big help, but additional manpower was called in after the first firefighter to enter the burning building went through the floor. >> he fell down there. for protocol, he sounded a mayday, meaning he was in distress. he also said he was okay and he had plenty of air and gave his exact location. firefighters wen

. >>> a mayday call went out early this morning for a firefighter in mitchellville, maryland. the firefighter was battling a fire when he fell to the floor in the baism. other firefighters were able to -- basement. other firefighters were able to get to him before he suffered serious injuries. no one else was hurt. >>> this morning searchers pulled a seventh body out of the rubble of two new york city apartment buildings. an explosion flattened those buildings yesterday morning, just a few minutes after a neighbor reported smelling gas. nine people are still missing. more than 60 people were hurt, including at least three children. that explosion shattered windows a block away. it cast a plume of smoke over the skyline and sent people running into the streets. >>> police in austin, texas have charged a driver they say was driving drunk when he plowed into a crowd at the south by southwest festival. a man and woman on a moped were struck and killed. nearly two dozen pedestrians were hit and five of them have life-threatening injuries. officers say that du ui -- dui suspect plow

. >> a firefighter is recovering from minor injuries battling to this fire at daybreak and mitchellville. in hyattsville, two adults and a five-year-old boy barely got out of this home. is sad. i know the young lady who lives here. >> firefighters arrived quickly but the fire had blown throughout the structure. >> with the wind, it accelerates it that much faster. >> brad bell. tothe wind was strong enough knock down the brick veneer wall in an apartment building. it fell onto cars and smashed windows. look at that. nobody was hurt. the building is temporarily condemned until it can be secured. that is 19 units. >> is not necessarily the window but the snow and the rain and a lot of concern. >> when you hear these weather reports, especially mine, keep in mind we had a temperature of 70 degrees today. it'll be hard for a lot of the snow to stick on contact at least on the onset. we'll look for colder air. we'll explain a little more coming up. >> that sounds good. >> 51 degrees right now at reagan national airport. hit 70 today. the record was two years ago. -- the temperature, we hit 70

the crash happened at about 11:20 near mitchellville and four state police closed three eastbound lanes. no one was hurt and investigators are not sure what caused the tractor trailer to overturn. >>> in montgomery county both the state and county plows had a tough time keeping up in the morning, but things are starting to look better now. bruce leshan is live in bethesda with a look at conditions there. hi, bruce. >> reporter: hey, guys. boy, i hate to think what this road will look like come morning time. we're on acacia avenue in the maplewood alta vista neighborhood and there are a couple places of hard packed snow waiting to refreeze overnight. they've had some front end loaders in this neighborhood and they've gotten some of the streets absolutely clear, but no matter how hard they worked, they haven't been able to get everything so far. >> i like the weather. >> reporter: mohammed tv usant had already walked -- mohammed dusant had already walked a mile when we caught up with him. his boss at the bakery must have figured this weather would bring in customers for pastry and hot cho
