many of those students actually saw the arrest of 33-year-old ronald david guinto by richmond policedozen child sex abuse charges. 11 of those charges were lewd acts on minors. richmond school officials say they ran background checks on guinto back in december. even fingerprinting him, vetting, and even questioning him. at the time they say there were no warning signs to prevent him from being hired. what dropped through the cracks was charges from his previous employer. guinto passed the background checks and was hired back in january. district officials admit there is obvious room for improvement when it comes to background checks. they are now investigating how this could have happened. we spoke with many parents this morning. they are shaken up. some are pulling their kids out of school because of what happened. >> somebody dropped the ball and i think it was mira vista. so, i mean, somebody needs to do their job. period. you put my daughter in danger. you put them in danger. >> i think that someone really dropped the ball on this, you know. heads got to roll for this, man. you a
