kpix 5's brian webb is at the scene of the shooting in san francisco. >> reporter: a big police presence four blocks closed off to residents. police are looking for the suspects. a lot of details we don't know but we have chopper 5 overhead with a bird's-eye view. shots rang out about 3:00 tonight and witnesses say it was 5 shots maybe more when they came outside to take a look they saw an officer had been shot. he was on the ground bleeding. they think he was shot in the arm or the shoulder. bystanders were trying to stop the bleeding. many other cop cars rushed to the scene within minutes. they threw up the crime tape put down markers to pinpoint the shell casings and detained a young man wearing a red cap and a 49ers jersey. had him up against the wall for a while. we don't know who he is or why he was being held. i asked a witness about gang activity. she says it's not as safe as it used to be. she asked us to hide her identity. >> uhm, i just think, you know, it's you can tell the streets are not as safe as they used to be anymore back in the day. this used to be a quiet area. child
