wow, look at that.e huge wood chunks lying in the middle of the yard around the wood flew, damaging homes three blocks away. if we take a look at what the tree looked like before the lightning struck. you can see it used to be this 80-foot tall tree with huge limbs. but no more. the bolt struck the tree around 1:00 yesterday afternoon near holly and buena avenue. the impact destroyed a parked car. it ripped roofs apart and blew out windows throughout the area. one neighbor told us she was three blocks away when it happened and she was motionless. >> i was just sitting at my desk and i didn't even see the lightning. i just felt this huge explosion and it -- i said -- i heard it was thunder. i thought it was thunder and i thought my good, that's close. >> reporter: luckily, the lightning didn't spark a fire but it did temporarily knock out power in the neighborhood. again, that house has been red tagged. we are told that the tree, if we take a look at the top of it back here live. that's gonna be chopped

look at this threat, guys.n of you today still looking at a threat for severe weather. we're looking at places from charleston back through naches and even up towards cleveland we still have an isolated threat for a tornado today. that is the concern as the system makes its way through, and it is a dangerous system. look at what we just saw yesterday. eight tornadoes reported, texas, illinois, even in through missouri. wind, strong wind damage sometimes can be even stronger than tornadoes. strong straight-line winds and large hail as well in the forecast today. the other side of this system, heavy rain and flooding. 4 or 5 inches of rain in a short period of time, produced a lot of flooding along the upper midwest yesterday. still looking at that today as the system progresses farther east, even making its way into the northeast today. let's talk about this. talking about still threats for heavier rain in through indianapolis, but it looks like you can see this tapering off by the time it makes its way into the
