we know ping detection coming around 14,700 feet deep. you think to yourself what could be living down here. officials say electronic signals is pretty much all that could be associated with what they're picking up here. you see there are sea ur chchin sea cucumbers, squid. but once you get down to the surface, a lot of silt beginning to take shape. 10 meters or 30 feet of it down on the sea floor. a lot of the areas making it very treacherous. if you've ever been snorkeling or scuba diving and you're told not to get too close to the silt below. you kick it up and visibility is reduced, that's what the folks have to deal with. right in this general area of the wallaby plateau and canyon, you see upwards of 30 feet of silt. that not only reduces visibility when you have an unman the machine going down there and trying to move around and look for equipment, it's pitch black. the pressure equal to something like 11000 psi. the animals that live down there are mostly invertbrates. it puts in perspective what we're dealing with. very isolated

ping detection depth 15,000 feet. it could be deeper could be not quite as deep.'t know because we don't know exactly where it is. where that broken ridge is could be up to 20,000 feet deep and then where the plateau is could be anywhere from say, 5 to 10,000 feet. let me try to put this in perspective for you, if i can. we have some of the world's tallest or not known buildings sitting right on the ocean floor. you can see this one right here. this little speck right here it's the eiffel tower. it's 1,000 feet. when you put that on the bottom of the indian ocean, look at that you would have to stack 20 of these on top of each other to get to the top of the indian ocean. the empire state building it would take 17 or 18 of these. you have the plateaus the depth alone is extremely intimidating. the average depth we're talking about is 700,000 feet. the current search area could be as much as 20,000 feet. this is mind boggling. you see these little buildings sitting on the bottom it's hard to wrap your mind around what we're dealing with. >> it helps us understand th
