this is hope a in -- >> hope s.f. >> hope s.f. . >> oh, okay. hope s.f. is actually an initiative that was created by mayor newsome back in 2007 that was given to public housing specifically. and the goal for that initiative was to demolish the existing public housing and rebuild it into mixed income communities. so, that is still an initiative that we're undertaking. we just had a grand opening at our first hope s.f. project, hunters view just yesterday, the first phase. and that is slightly different than what we're looking to do to renovate the majority of the housing authority's portfolio currently. we have received approval from hud to renovate about 14 projects in the next three years to the tune of about 1500 units. and then we will be taking on additional number -- 14 additional developments in the following three years. so, that is not like hope s.f., it is not demolition and rebuild new. it's renovation so that we can maximize housing quality in the near term versus hope s.f. which usually takes a lot longer to demolish and rebuild given the amo

that's where go solar s.f. factors in. and we provide service to san francisco's 40,000 street lights. so, for a part of the city's important public safety feature, street lights and pedestrian lighting, we provide the electricity. we pay all the costs for the operating and maintaining those lights whether we own them or not. next i just wanted to review quickly the power enterprise's overall priorities. this is a very familiar slide to folk paying attention to our budget. what's unique about it and what's emphasized here on slide 3 is the fact that we're now focusing more on developing new revenues to support our long-term capital requirements and continuing to work to comply with ever changing regulatory requirements. ~ folks there's been quite a bit in the news lately about one aspect of that. you know, the metcalfe substation that pg&e owns and operates was attacked by an individual. the federal energy regulatory commission who has responsibility for overall reliability of the electric grid is responding to that by imp

so, today in the context of go solar s.f. and important part of power provision, i have three specific points that mr. kelly wanted to express. first, go solar is a good program and it's one of the mechanisms that the san francisco puc has utilized to achieve the city's energy efficiency as well as renewable energy program priorities. since 2008, the sfpuc has provided $19.4 million, 19.4 million of go solar incentives, and we have appropriated 24 million as shown in the previous slide and mentioned by supervisor chiu. this has resulted in about 2,5 83 installations to date and represented about 8.1 megawatts of solar installation ~. this is really significant and really important in san francisco. it's a big accomplishment for san francisco. we want to be very clear that the sfpuc likes go solar s.f., we think there is a lot of value added to diversifying the production of renewable power and locally generating those in our city. and we're very proud of what we, with your support as the board appropriations, have been able t

you could deliver it to the klaxon power s.f. program as it was envisioned when we presented it to our commission at the 11.5 cents a kilowatt hour. ~ you'd see no margin because any extra money was plowed back into local builds and refirethv. ~ requirement. you could sell to a large retail customer and have 7.9 -- 5 .5 to 7.9 to spend on local build, on up country improvements, to restore and reserve ~ for that drought that we've been talking about. so, just purely from that business perspective, it makes the most sense when you do the math to use that hetchy kilowatt hour for a large commercial customer retail sale here in san francisco. >> i appreciate that. and knowing the financial constraints that the public utilities commission is in, it makes sense that we have a mix, what we won't be able to get and sell in terms of revenue from that. i think when it comes to cleanpowersf, it's not what we get above what we put in. in terms of pennies on the dollar, but also what we're able to achieve in terms of greenhouse gas reduction
