. >> the mount of the united steelworkers international joins us tonight. good to have you with us.erm unemployment no matter who or how many imaffects. what's your take on that? >> let me say, ed, that was one of the most din ingenuous -- i've been told by my mom to not call people liars, so i'll just say that's disingenuous when he says they never proposed anybody. the president proposed a jobs bill, he proposed an infrastructure bill and he proposed extending long-term unemployment insurance. if you want to pay for it, let boehner say he's going to cut the tax breaks for the ultra rich and oil companies. the president has already submitted many, many times good jobs bills, infrastructure bills that would put people back to work. that's completely disingenuous. and the fact of the matter is they extended unploemt insurance, i don't know how many times during the bush regime. they just don't want this president to have a success. and the reality is that even his own members are starting to turn on him. i know the public, by almost 70%, ed, maybe a higher percentage this week want e

this is the united steelworkers who have put up the money so that these players from northwestern would go to the nlrb and say we want to unionize at northwestern university. on the face of it it creates a great inequity between public and private schools where we've got a governing body that tries to make this process as equitable as it can. but let me make this point. if you want to drive the rest of schools out of major sports, then do this. only 10% of our nation's athletic programs make money. that means 90% of them lose in the athletic department. but for the quality of life of all students, not just athletes, they continue and their alumni continue to subsidize it. i agree with my good friend from tennessee, this would be a huge mistake, and it's time for those players at northwestern to think about more than those individuals who have fronted them the money to bring this case. mr. alexander: i thank the senator from north carolina. the question should be obvious, is what does a student at wake forest or vanderbilt -- and we're using the private universities again because those a
