does it, in some ways, does it end up helping travis childress, no matter who wins on tuesday? a little bit. you know, conventional wisdom was always, if thad cochran wins a primary, he wins the general. if mcdaniel wins the primary, it's a fight. but mcdaniel's favorite. i think that still. does it in some ways does it end up helping travis childers no matter who wins tuesday? >> probably a little built. conventional wisdom was if he wins the primary he wins the general. if mcdaniel wins the primary, it is a fight. but mcdaniel is favored. i think that still holds true. but i think it really gives a lot more for democrats and the national left to take a looking at mississippi and say, "you know what, we have got a harder map to defend the senate. do we want to spend a little money in mississippi." half a million dollars in mississippi goes a long way. we have cheap media markets compared to other states. i can see them getting involved to see if he can get a foothold. i still think if cochran wins, he, he wins the general. it will just be a little bit uglier perhaps. i think h

travis childress has raised almost no money so far. it's not a serious race up to this point.ine chris mcdaniel collapsing with that republican base there in a year like this where the priority is so much on these national issues which is the whole reason he has been successful up to this point in the first place. he really is running a kind of national conservative campaign. let's take back the country. i'd say it's a reach but it would certainly be a distraction. there would be a lot of questions like you raise there. would the nrsc stick with this guy and state republicans have basically said this guy is completely out of balance. what do they do if he wins? >> what if that were to happen and a poll came out we have not seen many reliable polls in mississippi so maybe have to poll mississippi first. assuming they did that and a poll came out and there is race a imagine the money would come flowing in. >> senate races are less about the individual candidates on the ground than they used to be. you used to have election cycles democrats and republicans would use. now more wav
