i have to say, and, you know, i don't have a really nuanced understanding of our taxi industry, but we are losing not just clients and riders, we losing drivers. and i think sfmta is going to have to have a real deep look at our system that we have a real high cost of entry to becoming a taxi driver and that's a system that's not going to work anymore given the existence of tnc companies. whether we agree with this or not, it is in existence today and probably will be for quite some time. i just -- i feel for the drivers and i know that they are -- they've lost a ton of business. when i talk to taxicab drivers they feel like they've lost up to 50% of their revenue and they can't stay. and we may lose all of our drivers soon and i just -- i think we have to rethink this model at this point and i just hope at some point we have that conversation instead of saying this is the good system and that's the bad system and we're going to keep fighting for the good system, even though the drivers and riders are leaving it. we can think we have the better and safer system, and i agree with that,

i have some specific concerns here. this would trigger a special election that would only be for one supervisorial district. that is -- it's almost inevitable that is going to be a very, very low turnout election. yes, there will be a lot of people volunteering on those campaigns because you're only going to have one thing on the ballot in one part of the city. so, we will see a lot of people converging on that district. but that's very different than having a broad voter participation in that district. and i think that unfortunately we will see very, very poor turnout in that kind of election. i also think in terms of when you look at the mayor's power vis-a-vis the board, if the mayor appoints someone who is then prohibited from running for reelection, the mayor will have less incentive to appoint someone who actually reflects that district and who will therefore be viable to seek reelection in that district. the mayor, in fact, will have incentive to appoint someone who is not necessarily responsive to the district,

toshiba i have a lot of faith in our public health ~. my concern about laura's law has nothing to do with the individuals that will be implementing it. i do think we have strong leadership here in san francisco and that we have progressive values and i am certain that if dph implements it, they'll be able to do it i think in the best way moving forward. and i also really feel for the families who have individuals struggling with mental health. i think all of us know individuals that are suffering from severe mental health issues and i can't think of something that is more heart breaking and more challenging for family members to deal with. i understand the fear many family members go through that can address their son or their daughter's even violence at home and just want someone to come and take this issue away from them, whether it be the police or department of public health and just make the problem go away. i think the question that i have is of course is this the best way to move forward. i want to appreciate the work that has gone
