marcell drimer was born in a poland, in a small town that is now part of ukraine. his father worked as an accountant and his mother raised marcell and his younger sister. we see marcell and his mother laura in 1934. germany and the soviet union attacked poland in september 1939 beginning world war ii. this is a historical photograph of the german troops parading through warsaw after the surrender of poland. on june 22nd, 1941, germany violated the german soviet pact and attacked soviet territory. within a few weeks, it was occupied by german force. in 1942, members of marcell's family, including his grandfather whom we see here were deportd to extermination camps where they were murdered. in the fall of 1942, marcell and his family were forced into the ghetto. here we see a historical photograph of jews being forced into the ghetto. before the liquidation of the ghetto, the family escaped to a small vile lab. in august, 1943 marcell went into hiding with a polish-ukrainian family. marcell's family is seen in this photo taken in 1947 or 1948. from left to right we se
