so i read the first paragraph.n the first sentence, there were two howlers, two dangling modifiers of the kind in, which walking down the street, the empire state building looked beautiful. i have been to the top and bottom of the empire state building and have yet to find any legs on it, but this writer put that in it a dangling modifier a really serious error and i suppose not. it can cause miscommunication, but what it says to me is that here's a writer who really didn't care that much about craft, and i can't read anything more if i think the writer doesn't respect craft. i see it all over the place in all the arts. listen to music, you name the genre and i can see people really, i think, are not respecting craft the way we used to. definitely see it in writing. so i went farther in the book and read a couple more pages inside, and it wasn't any better. it was somebody who i think has not taken the time to write the best book that he or she could write. we have writers today who are big names, john updike being
