kron 4 news's dan ruben is joining us live with more on the problem on and off the field of levi's stadium. >> reporter: the biggest problem so far is how to get these huge crowds in and out of the stadium. you might be able to hear it behind me. people are not just celebrating the national team. this game ended well over an hour ago and still a long line of cars waiting to get out. traffic is not only the concern. we want to go to dan ruben. >> reporter: well, the smoke was unbelievable. in fact, the smoke is what's driven moment of the people from their homes. it was thick and persistent lasting for hours before the fire was brought under control. pg&e had to dut off electricity and gas to a lot of these homes and businesses. when i tried to go into some of the homes, and businesses, i was turned away. but the businesses that managed to stay open weren't doing well. one owner said business was down even though her door was still open. the scene was nothing short of terrifying. >> my husband said i think you should go check out the fire. i went down and i said oh, my gosh. it's huge. >> there's a lot of merchandise that's stored in the upper levels and that's fueling the fire. they are doing everything they can to put the fire out. >> and when i checked bartlett street and there's a lot of smoke coming through the back side of the houses. they were evacuated. >> something like this can be very, very dangerous and it can expand very quickly. so kudos to the fire depart

one of our many reporters in the area dan ruben is standing by now with an interview with a fire official, dan. >> reporter: obviously we saw the very active scene out here. in fact, we're joined live now by assistant fire chief david franklin to give us the latest on the fire. what do we know so far about how this thing started. >> our fire team got dispatched. we came out of the station seven when we got to 19th and mission we knew there was a fire with a large amount of black smoke showing. it appears to be a two story commercial building. like a little five and dimestore that we have a lot of here in the mission street. a lot of black smoke coming out of the building. no visible fire: we attempted to make an interior fight on the fire. due to worsening conditions and the amount of fire that was inside the building. we pulled the crew out and set up for exterior containment. we kept it contained to the building and the adjacent building. heavy damage in the exposure building to the right of it. at this time we've had three minor injuries, to fire fighters, one minor injury to a civilia
