and then during the past 24 hours, including the 193 millimeters, more than 200 millimeters of rain fell. so lots of numbers there, i know. but simply put, a lot of rain that fell and not just in kyoto. also into other portions of japan. you can see here that in ayabe, 214 millimeters fell in a 24-hour period. the reason is because the frontal system is not a very fast-moving one. so when you have a system that likes to sit right over land, it stays over the land. it continues to rain over the land. that's when you have those really high totals. now, going from friday morning into saturday morning, during that 24-hour period, we are still looking at up to 150 millimeters of rainfall including kyoto and also some other areas up to 100 to 120 millimeters of rainfall going into saturday morning. so definitely a wet forecast is ahead. now, in other areas of east asia, we do have high pressure moving over the korean peninsula, giving some sunny skies over there. meanwhile, down toward the philippines, we have a couple of low-pressure systems that are continuing to dump a lot of rainfall. one

we have been seeing persistent rainfall, about 400 millimeters. in ten days across central china and it has led to deadly flooding andland slides. we have video from central locations here. at least 40 people are dead or missing in southwest china due to severe weather that struck the region on monday. over 30 mun mill 300 millimeters fell in less than 24 hours resulting in multipleland slides. 7,400 people have been told to evacuate. over 5,000 homes have been 7,40 evacuate. over 5,000 homes have been damagedor destroyed due to flooding. rescue workers are continuing efforts. but it looks like the rain will be continuing, not the heavy rain. the good news is that the heavy rain is not going to be across the locations where the video came out from during the daytime, but again from the evening hours, another low will be setting in. so any further -- any additional rainfall could trigger further flooding and landslides across this location. we have a low pressure system that is developing over the philippines. maybe it may intensify and turn but we

tokyo nearly 90 millimeters of rain in a day. heavy rain is causing flooding and landslides in many places. the reason is that we have a low pressure system west that is packing cold air in the upper atmosphere. that's sending warm and moist air from the pacific. because of difference in temperature and humidity, very, very unstable weather is happening over most of the country. this system will continue to sit in the similar locations though. we're seeing more heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds in similar locations into your friday. now, across the southern areas of asia, we're looking at torrential rainfall for the rest of the philippines. nearly 100 millimeters has fallen and more to come because a low pressure system further east of the country is enhancing the southwest monsoon. it could intensify a tropical depression by tomorrow night and approach northern parts of the country. lots of heavy rain is on the menu for the western areas of philippines as well as eastern areas of the country in the next several days. pr

i've seen a couple of meters. 500 to 700 millimeters with a lot of rainfall. will put you between 20 and 30 inches of rain that has already fallen. we're still raining on top of the region with the east wind coming in. there's the rainfall in the philippines, 200 to 500 millimeters that's fallen there. then the storm now is going to head out to the north. of course, the southern tip of taiwan has been getting hit. now taipei. once the storm heads to the north and you get into the west it will push the moisture on in. then headed to china. we have a triple threat, philippines, taiwan, china. three areas getting hit with rainfall. it's one of those alerts, the typhoon loses the strength when it passes over land as it did over the philippines but the moisture is the big story. that's not going to be tapped out. we are going to continue to see very heavy rain, i think, even in the next 48 to 72 hours across portions of eastern china. specifically how much? well, as much as 150 millimeters of rainfall in wenzhou in the next 48 hours. then things will begin to let u

indications of upwards of 500 millimeters not out of the question because of its slowdown here by the time we get into 48 hours. 130-kilometer-per-hour winds will do it. threshold at 120. 80 miles an hour and then heading into taiwan and eventually we have the yellow cone, the greatest uncertainty because that's just so far out but further next 72 hours this area must pay chose attention as a result of heavy rain that will be coming down but also the significant wind threat that will eventually commence once it gets north of luzon. still a question about the tracks here to the westernmost track the one i think is more likely at this point to happen. so we'll watch for that and that, of course, being the worst one here, the greatest impacts would be with a western track. as far as the rainfall, the potential is there for 250 to 500 millimeters, that would be about 10 to 20 inches across northern luzon but there you see manila getting in on hefty amounts of rain, as well, 180 millimeters over the capital city as we continue with another cyclone right on top of you here. let's check in o
