nick peyton walsh there in southeastern turkey.>> thanks, nick. >>> investigators say it could take up to a year to discover what caused that virgin galactic space shape disaster. mike alsbury was killed in friday's descent. >> the second pilot is recovering in a hospital. he's alert and talking to his family and doctors. the big question now whether seabold may be able to provide critical cloues to investigator. >> the question is have we interviewed the surviving pilot. we have not. the surviving pilot is not medically -- the doctors do not recommend we do an interview at this stage. so we are con n. contact with the surviving pilot's wife and we don't want to interview that pilot before the pilot is ready. >> most importantly, our thoughts remain with the families of the brave pilots and all those who have been affected by this tragedy. the bravery of test pilots generally cannot be overstated. nobody underestimates the risks involved in space travel. as i say, we owe it to our test pilots to find out exactly what went wrong. >>

nick peyton walsh. >> historically, turkey and kurds have had a tense relationship.new group came from iraq and i want to bring in jamie detmer. and there's been so much attention on kobani, why do you think it took reinforcements to get there. do you think these fighters can tip the battle? >> i'm not too sure they can tip it. it took so long to get fighters there because the turks were blocking any reinforcements going across. they were also blocking any arms supplies going across. hence we had to have the air drop by the u.s. military, some of which went astray, of course. there are only 150 kurdish peshmerga fighters who have gone across. i'm not sure if it's enough to tip the balance. it's enough to boost the morale. >> as you have been covering and report, it's not just about kobani, this week was almost a critical week for the rebels that are backed by the u.s. and they didn't fare very well. tell me what's going on. >> nick himself said about kobani being a microcosm. the wider issues are very alarming. the strategy of the u.s. is to build up the syrian rebel

. >> nick peyton walsh on the scene, thank you. >>> representatives of the obama administration are involved on the war on isis, and iran's nuclear program at the same time. the deputy spokeswoman for the state department joins us from austria. i want to get to all those issues. based on everything you know, are american diplomats, military personnel, other american businessmen and women specifically being targeted by isis in irbil? >> wolf, we have no information to suggest the horrific attack was aimed at american personnel. obviously we know this is a very tough security situation. we know americans there have been targeted by isil. all you have to do is mention that awful video of peter kassig's murder. in this attack, no information american personnel were the target. >> are you beefing up security for american diplomats in irbil? >> safe to say we have a high level of security at our facilities in iraq, basra, baghdad, we are always looking to do more, but it is very, very high. >> general allen was in turkey today. the u.s. had a pretty difficult time getting turkey and nato ally on b
