my name is julian ball and i am an organizer with the community group, san francisco ace. and we are a state wide organization with community and issue-based chapters here in san francisco and we have worked a lot about housing. and around housing, and the people have talked about you know the effect of not being able to know when you are or when you are going to see your kids, if you don't know what your hours are going to be, and not knowing what your pay is going to be, and that also means that you don't know when your, how you are going to pay your rent, or how you are going to pay your mortgage, so, one of our members, who could not be here today, fought and saved the home of her 92-year-old you think uncle that was in four closure and even now she is not able to live here in part because she has not been able to find a full time job or a job where she can predict her hours. and so, she is moving to texas at the end of the month and so even, after all of that. so, you know, i just wanted to encourage the board to keep this legislation as strong as possible. and i mean, that at a certain

made my way out to san francisco when i was a college student, and i sat in the class is in san francisco state as well, and i remember growing up at that time around clement street. we call the richmond district the new chinatown in the 1980's at that time. just being around the tremendous unique neighborhood, and discovering san francisco in the 1980's as i grew up, but i also have been very active as a community organizer. i worked in chinatown, and some first jobs also at the mental health center in the richmond area multi services in the 1980's, and i was also a staff are at the chinatown youth center -- i was also a staffer. a lot of my work has been supporting community empowerment, especially in an immigrant and people of color communities. most recently, i have been teaching at san francisco state. i ran the immigrant rights coalition in the city in the 1990's for several years. i'm also an immigration attorney, and a lot of my passion is supporting in power met for immigrant communities in the city as well. >> why did you choose to live in san francisco? supervisor mar: a lot of peopl

and she worked downtown, at wiki company, and she has a degree from san francisco state, and in zoology, and we shared being big fans of san francisco giants and the san francisco 49ers and she was actually, a very avid fan of both. mary was found dead in her home on august 26th and the cause of death is blunt force trauma. and according to her neighbors, her boyfriend of 12 years, who she lived with, she would hear her boyfriend slamming her against the walls during arguments. mary did not confide in this and although i loved her i never knew that this was happening a group of us attend every court hearing, for joules, and he has been accused of homicide, one of our friends has said that following this process and the judicial process is the most painful thing that she will ever do in her life. i am a human rights lawyer, and usually this kind of thing is a professional thing for me and not a personal thing, and i have been living in porter prince and i work for an organization that represents the victims of violence and we help to prosecute cases just like this case. and unfortunately

i teach at the right institute in berkeley and san francisco state university as adjunct. my goal to switch jobs is i want to work with the students so that i cannot only everyday in my class multi- culturalism and social justice and advocacy is the key that's what i bring today because they are going to be our future counselors. i'm going to keep it short and sweet. i know my time is almost up. i advocate and i'm also very passionate as you can tell, but i have also worked with the national association and i have advocated to reduce stigma. stigma is huge and shame. and i have worked with a lot of organizations to provide information. i was also one of the board members to work with south asian americans and to reduce stigma and work that south american asians have real issues. i want to support our undocumented students and families. i have done a lot of research in working with the latino communities and i want to bring that to the board, i also noticed on the board there is diverse but not someone who brings this array. i do want to advocate for our homeless youth in t

san francisco since i was 5 years old. i went to miraloma elementary school and went to the junior high school and graduated from lowell high school. went to san francisco state and also have a law degree from new college california school of law and i'm here to tell you that as the executive director for the truth and foster family agency, which has been in existence for 25 years, our foster children have been exposed to a level of complex ptsd that is mind blowing. and what is resulting, for example, in the resolution specifically talks about the fact that the guns that are actually in the home. when you look at it, most of the suicides actually occur with the youth who got the gun from inside the house. these guns are there and many times they are loaded or they are actually easily accessible. so i know this is a very political issue for the school board, but the reality it's also a duty as board members for the best interest of the child. so i would like to press on you the fact that every day we deal 24 hours a day with children who have been exposed to gun violence, suicide, or domestic violence. it's affecting the children in the schools. they are afra

are we oh, i put on here the work on the night time and development we're working with the san francisco state university senior seminar i brought this up for the seniors to get them to do some work for us it's a complicated issue on how to best preserve night time in the phase of ongoing new residential development south of market there is not been housing and you that's where night time is permitted we're moving forward in the interest of time if anyone is interested in the scope of work i'm happy to provide it to you with we had a meeting with the coroner's office an event basically, the economic impact two report we did impact report for night time businesses probably two or three years ago and computed festivals even though their impact is quite large this version is almost complete we've been ben and i are working on how to get our arms around the events that happen in san francisco which is really amazing if you really look at the standpoints and if anyone wants to help us with that we should be able to give the controller's office what they need they've conducted surveys 7 or 8 large e
