i remember southern airways dc-9 went down in the south about 30 years ago because the jet fans were clogged with hail at that time. do you think that perhaps authorities should reassess some of these flights in that area of the world when dealing with such severe weather? >> well school is still out. we can't tell exactly what the conditions are. dispatchers will relay that to the pilots. there will be a team looking at information known at the time of departure and information relayed to crews at a time they were flying en route. if that's the case, procedures will be changed. it's not a question of stop flying the airplanes. it's a question of the route the airplanes are taking. if there's a storm in the way from direct travel from point a to b you might want to take a dogleg and go around the storm which sounds to me like he was trying to do. we need a little more information before we can make any judgments along those lines. >> it's early and there is a lot of speculation. we'll obviously get the facts at some point. we thank you so much. former ntsb official for joining us wit
