well earlier this morning, we drove around philadelphia montgomery county and i can tell you from firsthand experience, the major roads, like the one behind me, have been plowed and pretreated so you don't have the snow pack or the frozen spots that you will find on some of the side streets like this one. also, if you're walking on some of the sidewalks, you'll find some icy spots there as well. most of the side streets and sidewalks were not pretreated so you do have some black ice. black ice was also an issue in pottstown, montgomery county. nbc 10 was there to find drivers navigating around those spots and snow that was frozen to the pavement. i talked with police dispatchers there just a few minutes ago, and they tell me while they are still getting reports of black ice and slick spots, they have not had too many issues or accidents late last night or vernlt overnight because of that, so it seems drivers are being cautious. back out here live some side streets in south jersey, i'm told, are also bad, unplowed and frozen like this. so, we will take a look at those coming up at 5:30. i'll

over the last hour we've been on roads in philadelphia and montgomery counties and i can tell you, the primary roads near where we are, cottman avenue and this is central avenue so this is a secondary road right off of cottman avenue they look pretty good and that's what the philadelphia streets department told me leading up to yesterday's storm, that they were going to be attacking primary and secondary roads. but if we swing the camera around, you can see this smaller side street is not paved. and if it was paved last night, it was paved at a time when the snowpack had really frozen to the ground because you can't really, even if you go down to my foot right now, i'm trying to cut through this snow and the ice and you can't do that. so, i also want to draw your attention to some of the cars parked along this road. for the most part they have been cleared off, their windshields free of any snow but some of them are not. and you're really going to need to allow for extra time not just to warm your car up because of the frigid temperatures outside and you're going to want to be somewhat

good batch coming down into bucks county right now but as it tries to push closer to montgomery county philadelphia and chester county it really starts to fall apart because of a slot of dry air that has moved in here. same story down in south jersey. a fairly nice band pushing through eastern cumberland county and maybe hooking into parts of cape may county but farther to the east not a whole lot of snow expected and i'll talk about the new adjustments in snowfall totals in a couple seconds for you give you an idea of what we're looking at over the neck couple hours. obviously this is a change on the winter weather alerts. the weather service 81 dated this an hour ago. all of the advisories warnings and blizzard warning have been shifted to the east. the blizzard warning now only in new york city and points toward the east in connecticut. the warning has slid all the way over to mercer county out of allentown, northampton county still in there so a little higher snowfall amounts in here and then the advisories technically still in philadelphia but philadelphia on the edge of it. so what to expect
