fox 29's bruce gordon spent the day along city avenue and tells us this will not be a quick or easy fix reporter: first the good news. penndot crews were out in force this day spreading raking and rolling hot asphalt to fill potholes along southbound city avenue south of haverford road. but the worst stretch around here can be found on the northbound lanes. a nearly 75-yard stretch of city avenue that looks like a mine field and rides like it, too. what was it like riding over it? >> like rocky road. >> reporter: and not the good ice cream kind? >> no, not at all. >> reporter: little rough ride ride? >> let's just say my teeth are loose. >> it's like full of craters and you really kind of have to slow down and maneuver. >> reporter: the problem says penndot is the road damage here is so severe it can't be patched like a pothole. it's due for complete overhaul. a process in which the road is deeply middle and then resurfaced. and that says penndot can't be done until warmer weather. when temperatures routinely hit 40 degrees. and so for now it's hang on to your wheel. and your wallet. >>

fox 29's bruce gordon joins us live from police headquarters tonight we more on this. bruce? >> reporter: iain, if you work over at the city's police auto pound units you no doubt see all kinds of interesting vehicle come through the gay. vehicles ultimately destined for the scrap yard or perhaps the auction block. but a police internal affairs investigation suggests an employee at that lot by the name of sharon hammet had a real thing for all terrain vehicles. police internal affairs investigators say sharon hammet spent 25 years as a clerk in the police department's auto pound unit. her job was to document whether impounded vehicles were sent to auction or sent off to the salvage yard. but twice between 2005 and 2010, authorities claim hammet doctored paper work to look like two all terrain vehicles were properly disposed when in fact she had taken possession of those atv's for herself and her husband. a third atv was purchased by the hammets in 2003. later went missing. it was confiscated by police in 2005. investigators say hammet took possession of that vehicle without the court order necessary to release it from police

gordon joins us live with those details tonight. bruce. >> reporter: iain vehicles sent to the city's police auto pound unit are supposed to wiped up on the auction block or perhaps sent to salvage. they're not supposed to wind up in the possession of the employee of the lot but authorities allege that's exactly the scam perpetrated by one sharon hammond. >> authorities say sharon ham met was a long time police department clerk based at the department's auto pound lot be 19 the platt bridge. her job was to keep records on impounded vehicles and whether they'd be sent to auction or cut up for salvage. an internal affairs probe concluded that twice ham met falsified documents to make it look like an all terrain vehicle had been properly doctors posed of. in fact, both atv's wept to ham met and her hub john a third was actually purchased by the ham met's back in 2003. it later disappeared and was confiscated by the police department in 2005. authorities say sharon hammet took possession of that third atv without the required court order releasing it from police custody. sharon and? ham debt met stand charged tonight with multiple coun

i'm bruce gordon, the 2015 philadelphia auto show rolled out of town this week after a successful run marred by late controversy. the convention center's management claim dozens of the city's carpenter's union damaged cars on disreply. they actually got a temporary restrange order barring the carpenters from attempting the show. we saw a number of acts that we thought were unlawful. you may remember the carpenters were locked out last year after failing to meet a deadline to sign off on new work rules, in a statement the union says i was pierly exercising its first amendment rights to peacefully row test against this unfair lockout. and the union says there was no vandalism. my take, the carpenters were there to disrupt the show, to make things uncomfortable. it's new work rules were put in complaints of philly shows were too costly to stage. most of the unions involved got the message, signed onto the new rules and went back to work. by most accounts things are better at the center, bookings are way up. the carpenters have been protesting for months outside the center. that's their right. convenient the public, it sends exactly the wrong message and makes it even less lik
