osborne. ♪ jonathan: welcome back to "on the move."ce ministers at g-20 are there for the final days of the summit. we spoke with the man at the top of the treasury, george osborne about one of the chief issues leading up to the u.k. election. u.k.'s roll intra-europe. -- in europe. we have made it clear that the u.k. wants to stay within a reformed european union. we also need to make sure that the relationship between those not on the euro is a fair one. those are our priorities going forward and we say we will put this to the british people and that referendum will take place by the end of 2017 but as the prime minister said if we could include the negotiations we will be delighted. >> many investors have voiced concern that an early referendum could speed up or cause an exit him a what would you say to that? osborne: there has been a lot of talk in the media that somehow our european policy might deter investment. the truth is since we set down our policy with continued to receive a huge amount of investment than the rest of europe

that is the view of george osborne. he has been speaking to bloomberg at the g20 meeting in istanbul. greece's future in the eurozone is high on the agenda. the danger of greece leading to a bad outcome is increasing. he said the risks to the world economy and british economy are also growing and he is urging other countries attending the g-20 meetings to find common solutions. in an injury -- in an interview with bloomberg in istanbul osborne talked about the risk and how he is planning to deal with any outcome. >> it is clear the risks to the world economy, the risk to the british economy on the standoff of the eurozone and greece is growing each day and i think the risks of the miscalculation or misstep leading to a very bad outcome is growing as well. here at the g-20 we are urging all parties to this dispute to try to find some common solutions. we are also stepping up our preparations for whatever the outcome may be. we have to make sure that the british people are best protected from whatever develops in this cri

jonathan: as you say george osborne and the government -- lloyds for george osborne, finally puttings back into private hands. >> they have been setting down their stake. they managed to get rid of another 1% without the market even knowing. that was back since december, they sold 500 million pounds worth but the share price is still rising in lloyds. they are set to get rid of their entire stake by the first of the year. this is why george osmond is crowing saying look at the profits, this is good news because he wants to get lloyds fully back into private investors hands. they have to offload the rest of it in the first half of the year as i say and this is monumental. this is a rescue they made in 2008 so the fact we are getting the first dividend and a fact we are starting to see the share price continue to be about that rate for lloyds is notable. interesting also is people working at lloyds are getting or money. rbs has to cut their payloads and they're saying remuneration is responsible and prudent. jonathan: investors seem to like what they see this morning. after the break w

mark: osborne is said to have riled his european counterpart in brussels.ay he questioned the finance ministers on whether the impact of greece running out of money had been fully considered. anna: let's get straight to brussels. hans nichols has been following this story all week. what is the likelihood of a request for an extension. if it comes through, what is the likelihood of asking? hans: it depends if the request is just about the loan agreement or if it is about staying and completing the program. that is a crucial distinction. we haven't seen a copy of what they're going to be asking, but it looks similar to that proposal that caused the meeting to and is so shortly the other night. if this is just a formalization, this is likely to go nowhere. we heard the german finance minister last night say the crucial question is not whether or not it asks for a bailout but whether or not greece fulfills the current program. you saw the prime minister yesterday making a defiant speech and moving to roll back some of the austerity measures. some of the conditi

a notable profit, and george osborne calls it a milestone. caroline: it is a milestone.ou have the first full-year profit in five years, the first dividend in six years. this is a company that is showing it is turning around. they've gone through so much pain. we had back in the third quarter cutting costs by a billion. thousands of jobs still to go. some 9000 over three years. still having to make huge cuts to this business but suddenly managing to turn a profit. the really symbolic thing for investors is the dividend. if you are looking at the profit underlying, they are still being hit by these huge cuts. ppi provisions that they are having to make. 12 billion pounds. that is one hell of a miss cell if you ask me. the profit is looking better so they feel they can once again start paying a dividend. it is only 0.75 pence, but they say we see the importance of increasing the dividend. they are saying, we are going to have 50% of earnings going to a dividend. francine: and at the same time george osborne is hoping that this means a step closer to returning to private ha
