hilton. host: we did a lot of watching of the event here on c-span.atching the arrivals, watching the ballroom. some washing of the crowd to see who was mingling with each other. what did you see with your eyes? any interesting pairings in the crowd or any interesting conversations? getting to the dynamics of the dinner, the variety of people. guest: this is one of the most interesting list. the unusual parrying. one of the most intriguing moments was when i saw donald trump give a huge hug to susan wright. they were embracing. he whispered in her ear, nothing in life is easy. he said he just wanted to tell her that, that she has a hard job. he also said that he didn't know what to expect as far as the jokes this year. back to 2013, president obama talked about trump. he said he wasn't sure what to expect, but he pointed out that he had one of the best seats in the house. he was ready. host: patrick gavin, you probably saw his piece in "politico." he had a lot of harsh things to say, saying that the event has morphed into inan origin, what do you make
