[laughter] let's start with the strengths at least. so we will go in order of when they announced i suppose. crews got in first. ted cruz and i both come from similar professional backgrounds. so you know we are both appellate litigators by training. they both served as law clerks at the supreme court. we tend to approach issues particularly constitutional issues in a similar way. ideologically i share a lot in common with ted cruz and i like his passion and i like his dedication to conservative principles and his willingness to fight even when it's hard. i have an enormous amount of respect for him. some of those same characteristics have also been characterized by some as a weakness as an achilles' heel for him. we will see how the primary

turn to: congressman john delaney of maryland, who was closely involved in the search for warren weinstein. michael leiter, the former director of the national counter terrorism center during the first obama administration. he's now with a national security technology company. and wall street journal national security reporter adam entous. congressman delaney, you were very involved with the family in the effort to find warren weinstein. what canny tell us about that? >> obviously, today is a very sad day for the whole family, and i've had the privilege of getting to know elaine and the daughter, warren's daughters over the last several years as we worked together to try to get warren home. and they're a great family. they've been very strong through this whole process which as you can imagine, has been really hard. but they've also been determined and they've been smart about things to do to both shine attention on warren's case and to make sure our government is doing everything they can, which is where i was helping them. and our job really was to make sure all of the resources of our government

so he thinks elizabeth warren would make an excellent candidate. neil: michael what do you think of this? she has no formidable competition to speak of. eight years ago she didn't seem to have any. how she has to walk the fine line with banks what do you think? >> it's a delicate balance. she has to keep the wall street loyal donors in check while balancing the liberals that she's going to move forward with progressive policy. neil: she doesn't want to appease the liberals too much. in a general election campaign, if she were to get that far, she doesn't want to come across as a left wing kook right? >> she has to in order to get the support from the liberal side. i think she's going to play it right down the middle and comes down to trust and ethic, if she gets in office what is she going to do next. >> i think that's the game plan, play it down the middle. bash income inequality try not to make the name goldman sachs because her friend runs the place. neil: do they know how the game is played? >> they think this is more rhetorical that in her heart, what her h
