"action news" reporter walter perez is live at 57th and warrington the scene of the fatal hit and run tonight walter. >> reporter: well, jim what a sad, tragic scene right here in southwest philadelphia we will give you a live look. it happened right here. surveillance video capture the entire thing and it is really disturbing. in the end an innocent five-year old boy has been killed and the search is now underway for the person responsible. we spoke with several people who witnessed the entire situation unfold. they say it started around 6:30 tonight when a four year-old boy darted on to the roadway near the intersection of 57th street at warrington avenue. >> i knew it was a young boy coming out of the street right behind it. when he got in the in middle of the street i heard the lady holler go back, go back. >> reporter: but it was too late this surveillance video which ties graphic to show in its entirety reveals how driver of the vehicle involve struck the child sending him flying 15 feet down the roadway. the driver then literally runs over the unconscious youngster before speed

they may be linked to an alleged dispute between two women. >> walter perez just paralyzed on the scenethe 4400 block of north 17th street. walter what can you tell us. >> reporter: rick and monica we'll give you a live look at the scene. officials on the scene of the fire but the story right now as you mentioned is of a terrible hit and run when a 24-year-old woman endured severe leg injuries when a vehicle reportedly went onto the sidewalk here on north 17th street and ran her over. the back story comes from the victim's friends and family who say the person behind the wheel was another young woman who was in a lingering dispute with the victim over a man. now witnesses we spoke with say the suspect was actually waiting down the street, waiting for the victim to come out of her home and when she did the suspect reportedly ran her down and quickly drove away. the victim's mother then runs out of the house as well. the victim and her mom live together, starts tending to her daughter. neighbors call 911 and the ambulance takes both the victim and her mother to einstein. in a tragic twist

philadelphia gas works pgw, 2000 miles of at risk pipelines are sitting under the streets of the city, walter perez went through that report today and joins us live in center city with the details. >> reporter: hey brian you know half of all the cast iron natural gas underground pipelines are here in philadelphia and it's getting old. we spoke to the commissioner who came just short of calling it dangerous but saying something needs to be done soon. >> the president nils says he is talking about the 3,000 miles of pgw underground pipes 1900 of which are classified as at risk the infrastructure is old and antiquated. >> 50% of pipeline in pennsylvania is in philadelphia and we are dealing with trends that are concerning. >> this trend is the most concerning. back in 2013, there was 6200 pgw gas leaks reported 3,122 of them were labeled hazardous one year later it rose to 7600 with 3,448 considered hazardous a report was released on the sitdation including seven situation for speeding up the process by which the infrastructure of pgw is fixed. now, pgw officials admit that safety is their number one

"action news" reporter walter perez is live at the scene. l, jim giving you a live look at the picture we're about block away from the house there. the call came in about 2:30 this afternoon as a kitchen fire on the 100 block of mohawk trail in medford lakes. one person lives inside that house. when firefighters arrived smoke was billowing from the windows as you can see from chopper six and the woman who lives there we're told was still inside trying to get the situation under control. now first responders quickly got her outside and it didn't take long for crews to ring a seconds alarm. several fire crews ended up responding and it still took them about an hour and a half to get it under control. we confirmed three firefighters ended up suffering minor injuries along the way and as you can see a lot of trees in this area and the home is an old mostly wooden structure so today's windy conditions were a factor. >> the wind will feed the fire and fan it to places you don't want it to go so it was a factor in the suppression operations yes. >>
