brian webb for cbs news, new york glrs i'm nikki burr dive -- new york. >> reporter: i'm nikki burr dive live in rockville. a couple found dead here at their home in rockville on ridge drive. i want you to take a look at this picture of this couple. they're in their 60s and their names are dick and jody vilardo. their families members found them saying they didn't show up at an event yesterday so they came to check up on them. police are not saying the cause of death just yet, just that there was trauma to the upper bodies which can mean any number of things but they do tell us their deaths are considered homicides. the children of the couple released a statement that said this, we are heart broken over the senseless tragedy. dick and jody are a warm and loving couple. they said they can't imagine or know of anyone who would want to hurt them. neighbors who we have been talking around here say the same thing. they say this is a very quiet neighborhood. everyone looks out for each other and they can't imagine that this would happen to this sweet couple especially on mother's day. we're aw

. >> reporter: i'm nikki burdine live outside the wilson building. new and heartbreaking numbers released on the infant mortality rates in d.c. babies born in ward 8 are ten times more likely to die than babies born in the wealthiest ward which is ward 3. these numbers are out according to an advocacy group called save the children. the infant mortality rate in ward 3 which is the wealthiest ward in northwest d.c. is 1.2 deaths per 1,000 live births. in ward 8 in southeast d.c., it's 14.9 deaths for every 1,000 live births. hard to believe these numbers are coming from the same city. the gap is not just an indication of health and disparity butle the economic disparity between those two wards. infant mortality rates are ultimately about poverty according to this advocacy group. >> the district in the last 15 years has cut infant mortality in half which is commendable. what has persisted is the gap and it's been stubborn. it stuck around. >> reporter: how does d.c. compare to other areas in the d.c., maryland and virginia area? arlington's infant mort

nikki burdine is live in philadelphia with the latest on the train's engineer and when we could possibly be hearing from him. >> reporter: all night and all morning, we've seen crews coming in here to the crash site, starting to remove some of the debris and replacing train tracks. meanwhile, ntsb investigators say they want to talk to that engineer. but it might not happen at all today because they say at the end of the day, he, too, has been through a traumatic experience. >> we want to find out what happened and why and we're not casting any judgment calls at this point right now. >> reporter: investigators say the engineer on train 188 was 32-year-old brandon bostian of queens, new york. although a top priority is finding out what happened tuesday night when the train derailed, bostian has to be mentally and physically able to talk. right now, he can't remember what happened. >> i want to point out that for somebody who's been through a traumatic event, this is not at all unusual for human behavior to have the mind blank out things like that. >> reporter: what we do know, the train w
