this crash but if you take a look behind me you can see from our ran stage point at frankford and sedgleyf the crash and rear of the train crash. they have clear crew from his the sidewalk to remove cement barriers so they can move cranes closer to the crash site and attempt to right those train cars. beyond that point the search for survivors continues this morning. cadaver dogs are on the scene and our chopper has been asked to stay 2 miles from the crash site as they listen for survivors. we are told several passengers are still unaccounted for but all this, after an amtrak train number 188 coming from washington d.c. and helpedded to new york city jump the tracks at frankford junction sending dozens of people to area hospitals. the big question this morning is how and why did this happen? just how many people are trapped on that train? those are questions, we are waiting for answers. at this point local, state and federal authorities are on the scene. a press conference is scheduled for 11:00 this morning. that is very latest from port richmond, nicole brewer, cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

pike wheatsheaf buckius sedgley butler corral and sepviva all seeing block catches with crews on thelook for alternates around the port richmond area. on the big picture no other major issues affecting you if you're getting out there this morning to commute but on the roads, on the rails matt and tam that train derailment having a big impact. >> we can't our coverage of the amtrak train derailment with annie mccormick where all amtrak rides to new york city are canceled. annie. >> reporter: many of the red cross volunteers, about 50 of them have been here overnight. now, those shelters that we have been talking about that were at local schools they have now moved here and there is a hospitality center that is inside 30th street station. also, a number of those people who were in the hospital too did not have major injuries are also being transported here. this is all so that they can be checked in with the red cross. then they can be countered for and then they can be helped by amtrak to get to where they need to be. we talked to one woman as she just entered back from the hospital.

schuylkill river at girard and continued on the standard route as the tracks traveled between west sedgley avenue. the train originated in washington tonight arrived in philadelphia at 9:07. it was scheduled to arrive at new york's penn station at 10:34. >>> "action news" reporter dann cuellar is as close to the scene as he is being a allowed, and dann what can you see, what do you know. >> reporter: well, just a few feet from mere commissioner charles ramsey just came out, a little bit ago to talk to us and tell us how much he can tell us. he says it is not very much. we were here earlier right where it was unloading passengers from the overturned train and using ladders to unload the the injured passengers. many of the passengers were shell shocked and were in disbelief and wanted to know what happened. we asked them what happened. they said there was no warning. before they knew it, the trains were on their side. there were people screaming and they were trying to help people that were injured, at the same time, trying to exit the train themselves. but we understand from the officials h

we're at the corner of frankford and sedgley. take a look at this video that we shot when we arrived on scene. this is video of some of those passengers actually being treated. they were walking over from the train. it's the first time that they actually had a chance to see this public that was watching them making sure they were okay. we noticed the smell of soot, the smell of smoke. it's very heavy especially because the wind right now seems to intensify that. something else that we noticed when we pulled up is that a lot of these people are being pushed back by police. police are doing a great job of making sure that there's a large perimeter because they keep saying the priority is getting these people to the hospital as soon as possible. that's the priority, not people that are standing watching trying to talk. the priority is getting them to the hospital and right now we're just at one scene. there are several scenes i should mention. we saw maybe 10 or 15 people that were being treated. we're hearing over 50 people so you

we moved couple of blocks down sedgley right along the tracks. you see one of those six rail cars tipped on it side. this is probably the one rail car that still is in decent condition. if you look above the rail cars you see the utility polls, that holdup those amtrak power lines tilted in each direction toward each other. so those lines were torn down as we heard 19 year old passenger, telling people at fox news channel when i was just on the air with them, who survived this crash a college student trying to get home for the weekend and says there were lines down, no one had any idea that there were any lines down, and with 12,000 volts, going through those lines, that power these amtrak trains, you could survived this devastating train wreck, and then got electrocuted if you happened to step in the wrong spot. so thankfully so far we haven't heard anybody killed by the power lines. but you had all of the first responders running out there in the dark, and those hundreds of passengers. mike keep in mind, just because you have the number 200 tre
