nbc10's matt delucia is at the scene. matt it's been a little over three hours and it's still an active investigation kreenl right now. >> reporter: that's right, cars were turned around it was so against out here. one witness telling us it was quite a sight to see. and then the other one taken away a few minutes ago. according to that one witness, these two men really did not have a chance all because of a chance to pass a truck. the witness heard the screeching tire and saw the crash, the white car was in the center lane trying to turn left on pusey street. at the same time the red car was trying to pass the truck. both cars did hit head-on. the witness said the red car was clearly going very fast at the time. witnesses rushed out to the scene to try to savt lives of two men. he didn't want to show his face but told us it was quite disturbing. he went to the red car first, he told us he had already died and then he went over to the white car. >> he kind of maude a sound and that was it. >> reporter: a lot to clean up on

nbc 10's matt delucia is live on the scene. matt, what else have you learned? >> reporter: tracy and vai, firefighters have been out here for the bet ert part of five hours at this point. they have only been able to get in through the rear of the house but not very far. we're in the 5600 block of floyd street here in germantown. the front door the windows, the second floor as well packed wall to wall, floor to ceiling with materials, mostly wooden materials. the window and doors in fact were boarded up from the inside. the firefighters got here. take a look a little bit higher on the roof. there's still the ladder truck up there. they've been throwing water on the top of this building for quite some time. there's still smoke coming out of here, a lot of material inside this house to burn. it's still burning somewhat at this hour five hours later. look at video when you can see how intense this fire was early on. it started about 1:00 this morning. heavy fire flames smoke, coming out of the roof of this home. really it's a single home here. it's not really conne

matt delucia is in one of the hardest hit areas gloucester krout county. matt, what are you seeing out there? a few days since the storm. >> reporter: it's a little quiet out here right now. people are still sleeping and some of them just starting to wake up right now. it was busy out here yesterday trying to clean up. we are on windsor way, west crossing road. right there that house there, the siding torn off. over here you can see a stop sign that was bent. over here a flag pole that is bent as well. just take a look at the ground right here. this giant hole in the ground. what was here? this. this giant street lamp that just came tumbling down because of the heavy winds from that storm on tuesday night. so this is laying on the ground. you got a lot of trees, a lot of debris still out on many lawns throughout the area. this house has a lot of cleaning up to do. you see the side of that house is ripped off, the fence there in the backyard ripped apart because of these straight line winds. again, no tornado confirmed in this area. just straight line wind t

matt delucia is live on the scene. what do you mow? >> reporter: we've been here for a little over an hour. i'll get out of the way. hazy and smoky out here by that house here behind those trees. you can see the fire department activity here. firefighters, ems workers who have been out here for quite some time. this started about 2:00 this morning. it hit two alarms out here. we're told there were issues getting enough water out here to fight this fire. we can see several trucks parked in the driveway of this house. also some of the neighboring properties and up and down the road. we now hear some of those saws as they try to saw through damaged property out here. in the past 30 minutes or so we've seen people be wheeled away on stretchers. in total we've seen three people be taken away on stretchers in ambulances here from the scene. they appeared conscious at the time which is good news. initial reports was that someone may have been trapped inside this property. we've been told we should get an update shortly. a busy scene out here.

matt delucia nbc 10 news. >>> just about a week since the storm glob of thor county is the only county with a significant number of outages. there's juf over 4,000 people left in the dark. the largest problem airy is camden county with fewer than 700 outage and in pennsylvania and delaware the power is almost completely back on. >>> today police hope to learn more about how two inmates escaped from a new york prison now that the manhunt has ended for the convicted killers. this all comes after police shot and killed edcaptured the second fugitive yesterday. today police hope to question sweat about what led up to the escape. he had been on the run for 22 days. the treerp was on pa trel alone when he spotted sweat and then he began to run. >> at some point running across the field, he realized that sweat was going to make it to a tree line and possibly could have disappeared. and he fired two shots from his service weapon. >> sweat was shot twice. hospital and transferred him to a more secure trauma facility where he's in critical condition. on friday, a border patrol agent shot and kil

matt delucia is with us in another hard-hit neighborhood. the cleanup will continue there today? >> reporter: we are at windsor way here in mantua up to. stop signs still laying on the ground. you have another one across the street here that is still bent. you also have a lot of trees that are still down in this area. so a lot more cleanup left to go out here. sky 410 was over some of the more hard-hit areas yesterday. a lot of roof damage as well and plenty of people picking up tree branches from their lawns and spending the rest of the day boarding up windows and fixing whatever they could. pse&g workers were fanned out to restore power to the area. more than two dozen generators and extra workers helped get the traffic lights up and running at the intersections. still a lot of damage out here and a lot of debris out on the ground for those who don't have power in this part of new jersey. pse&g will set up a center that will have ice and water and charging stations at cherry hill west high school today from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. out here we are seeing a similar situation throu

nbc 10's matt delucia is live in middletown township one of the hardest hit areas of the storm. matt? >> reporter: rose maury, more than 4,000 customers here peco customers in middletown township do not have power this morning. i just checked those numbers. but you take a look at some of the damage out here now that we're starting to get more sunlight out here. just behind me we're on baltimore pike just past valley road. if you're familiar with this area, this is where that wawa complex is. you can see there's a giant tree that's right here taking up one of the lanes of baltimore pike. you see some of the cars here just trying to use the left lane to get around it. this may become an issue later on this morning as we get into the morning rush. you have a lot of cars heading in this direction, they'll run into this tree that is out here. you see some of the utility lines were taken down by this tree as well. again, we have a lot of power outages out here as a result. you're seeing a lot of debris branches leaves that were taken out by the storm, a lot of heavy winds, heavy rains

matt delucia is live in gloucester county. a hard-hit neighborhood. the cleanup continues there today, matt? >> reporter: it will. some of these homes like this one right here are condemned because of the damage out here. you can see the garage here was torn apart and on the other side here the side of the house was torn apart. this one over here just next door, that also has some siding damage as well. you go throughout this neighborhood here. you can find pieces of the shingles littering the lawns and sidewalks. this mailbox is gone. a lot of the trees came down across the street because of these straight line winds throughout the area. this one uprooted out here as well. a lot of folks are cleaning up today. they started yesterday and continuing today. a lot of stop signs and street signs were also casualties of this storm as well. so a lot of is being experienced throughout this area. this stop sign across the street here is bent as well. some of these signs are twisted. you see this house across the street here the siding torn off there as well. w

nbc10's matt delucia was live on the scene. matt witnesses are telling us what they saw. >> reporter: tracy, right here is where it happened on 2nd street. the fire department was out here just trying to clean up the fuel and oil out here. so the fire department just left about two minutes ago, i would say, because they have shut down this road here. 2nd street. now you can see cars are moving in both directions. this is reopened now. both cars that were involved in this crash, they were going in opposite direction. one car trying to turn on pusey street. the other was trying to pass a truck. the witnesses tell us they heard the screeching tires, he looked out the windows and saw the crash happen. the witnesses said the red car was clearly going very fast at the time. both men died here at the scene. the witness said he tried to save the lives of these two men. called this a disturbing sight and one that could have been prevented. >> me personally he wants to come out of this -- like come out. after a while, me talking, i just a

nbc 10's matt delucia is live in center city to tell us what he's learned. matt?>> we're about a couple weeks out of graduation season for colleges. folks in this area thousands of them are flooding the job market looking for a job here or elsewhere. the good news is the job mark set slightly better than it was at the start of the year. the unemployment rate for 18 to 29-year-olds as of last month was at about 9% which is higher than the overall unemployment rate which is about 5.5%. i spoke with la salle university career services counselor lou lemort. he said it's hard á 's seen a 30% increase in companies looking for workers over the last year, a very positive sign. what job fields are doing well? professional services leisure and hospitality and health care are all doing fairly well. as for getting that job, what does it take in this climate? you heard of students posting too much on social media. but what if they're not posting enough? working on that part of the story when we see you again in the next hour. live in center city matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >>>

nbc 10's matt delucia is live on scene. matt, what can you tell us?>> reporter: tracy, we're still trying to get more information on the scene but firefighters do have this one under control. they're still, though trying to get the flames completely out. it's a tough situation out here. let me get out of the way. we're on the 5600 block of boyd street. the firefighters got here and see not just heavy smoke and fire. all of the windows and doors are boarded up from the inside. now take a look at video. this was an intense fire early on, an inferno coming out of the roof. we saw firefighters with axes trying to break through the windows. they did get through one. the house was filled with trash and debris, tires, ironing boors all throughout this house. at this point, no one has been found inside the home and no injuries, though it is not certain if anyone was or is still inside there. this is a complicated fire. we continue to see flare-ups and water is going on to this fire. we take another live look out here. surely this is a story we'll be following

nbc 10's matt delucia is live on the scene with the latest. what can you tell us matt? >> reporter: just within the past few seconds we've seen some of the firefighters going back to their trucks starting to pack up and move out of this area although we did also hear some of the hoses still running out here at the scene. you can see behind these trees here is where the fire was early this morning. they are trying to put out hot spots in spots. a two lane road here is shut down because of the fire department activity. we have fire trucks ambulances police out here as well in this area. it's been busy and active out here since 2:00 this morning. there was a ladder truck out there spraying water from the air not long ago. i don't see it at this point. we've seen a hazy smoky conditions out here. that's started to dissipate somewhat out here and we've seen more rain as well. perhaps that is helping with the firefighting inging effort because they were having trouble getting water to the scene. we've seen three people wheeled away on stretchers in ambulances taken from the s

matt delucia is live with exclusive video. ice didn't just find the suspect and the gun, there's something else they found. >> adult family members and friends hiding in the basement. this whole thing started with a 39-year-old man walking down the street, encounters two mep and those men say that the 39-year-old pulled out a rifle and started shooting at them. only nbc 10 we were there at that suspect was led out of the house in handcuffs and brought into a police van. the police tell us that the man walked up to the men who were near mitchell and montesary streets in rocksborough saying you know what time it is. all of this happening just before 11:00. one of the witnesses has a permit to carry his own weapon. he pulled out his own gun and fires a shot at the suspect. that spooks him. the guy runs into a house on the 400 block of montesary until police get there. there was a brief barricade situation but the suspect was found and and arrested. police say they did find his rifle along with three young children and the three hi

matt delucia nbc 10 news. >>> 4:34. philadelphia police are searching for a man who they now believe stole more than a dozen taxi cabs. they say the person you see in this video stole a cab in west philadelphia and southwest philadelphia over the past week or so. detectives say all of the cabs have a 215 get a cab logo. some were used in crimes including a shooting and a robbery. police want you to be vigilant before getting into a cab. always check identification before taking a ride. >>> take a good look at this robbery suspect. he's dressed eded as a construction worker. they say he held up a rite aid in logan township and then robbed another rite aid in haddonfield on monday. investigators say he also carjacked a priest before making his getaway. the robber got away with prescription drugs in both cases. no one was hurt. >>> we want to show you video of two of the three people arrested in a home invasion. the third person accused with them is under 18 so police are still looking for a fourth person in this case. pol

nbc 10's matt delucia is live at einstein medical center. what have you learned from police about the shooting? >> reporter: well, four months pregnant rosemary the 32-year-old woman was rushed into surgery at einstein medical center. her unborn child did not survive. this happened just after 10:00 last night on the 7300 block of thorren avenue. police got there. there's a 46-year-old man lying on the sidewalk shot several times in the legs. they also see a woman in the front passenger seat of a car. the man is stable the woman is critical, it's unknown if she will survive. there were several witnesses in the area detectives have been talking with them. no motive at this point but police are telling us that it appears that both the man and the woman were shot outside of the vehicle. the woman got in possibly in an attempt to get away. there's still plenty of details still being worked out in this investigation. i'm working on gathering more of the details. live outside einstein medical center in olney, matt delucia nbc 10 news. >>> new this

nbc 10's matt delucia is live in greenwich township, gloucester county where folks there are without power. update us on the situation where you are. >> rosemary jessica was talking about some of the road closures. we're at one of those spots right now, swedesboro avenue here in greenwich township really gibbstown. over there in the distance the traffic lights are out. we went through etch of the airy especially gibbstown where we could not see homes that had power. next door we didn't see too much of an issue in terms of power. a lot of homes are power there. atlantic city electric is reporting 84% of its customers here in greenwich township do not have power. paulsboro, 33% do not have power. they're hoping to get that power restored tomorrow and possibly into sunday. jessica talked about some of the those yurs on 295. this is exit 16. you can see this is swedesboro road exit, they have the cones up there. no traffic is being allowed on to this off ramp here. cars coming up on swedesboro being shuffled into a parking lot to get back on to harmony road and get back on to 295. this i

matt delucia is live in gloucester county what still needs to be done to clean up there. matt? >> reporter: out here we have been talking about this for the past couple of days that there was no actual tornado that touched down in this area. it was mostly straight line wind. you can see how strong the winds were. the stop sign here is twisted, the metal twisted because of those heavy strong winds. shingles out here on the sidewalk. this is the real damage. walk with me over here. this home here we have been showing you all of the damage in this area yesterday. but look at this. side of the house taken off by the winds. this fence out here taken out as well. so this is real serious damage caused by this storm. we have trees that have been uprooted as well. so we have been talking with hoof the homea lot of the homeowners who are trying to work and clean up and trying to get that power restored. it looks like on this road here windsor way i see a lot of lights on the garages and the porches out here so it does appear that power has been restored at least to this area but a lot of

"nbc 10's" matt delucia is checking on conditions in atlantic county where some places have already gotten more than 5 inches of rain. matt, what are the conditions and what have you found? >> right now we have some wet roads out here. this is white horse pike. we were actually just coming up heading into atlantic city and we spotted a little trouble spot here and turned around. not so much on the roadways, more off the road towards one of these jug handles out here where you make some of the turns. so pretty much in most of the areas we're not seeing a whole lot of issues. you see some of the areas right out here we have some of the ponding that's out on the grassy surfaces so, again, not too much in the way of an issue for people who are driving in this area right now. definitely a good spot to watch out for if you are heading out this morning. make sure that you -- what they say, turn around don't drown. you see this spot here. we're going to turn around. you see coming into this little side street. most of the area here not experiencing too much of an issue. we're going to back up now

nbc 10's matt delucia is live on the scene. att this swaying has not been the easiest for firefighters. somewhat unusual. explain this. >> reporter: yes, tracy, firefighters do have this fire under control but this has been a complicated one. i'll get out of the way, you can see the fire scene out here. we've seen -- we may be able to see the flashlight. it does appear that theh @r(t&háhp &hc looking to see if there was anyone inside at the time it went up in flames. it's been very difficult, as i mentioned, you can see through the doors and windows, they were boarded up there's debris in there from particular to ceiling, wall to wall. a tough scene out here for firefighters firefighters. take a look at video. it started around 1:00 this morning. a lot of flames and smoke out here shooting through the roof. the firefighters had a lot of work ahead of them. the fire is under control. they have this mostly out. the ladder truck is still out here. they're still trying to put water on the hot spots as we see flare-ups every now and

matt delucia live on the scene. matt, you just got new information? >> reporter: vai, i spoke with the fire marshal on the scene a few minutes ago. as the firefighters are still trying to completely put the fire out, it's too dangerous for them to getten side this property. there's too much debris on the inside. they are waiting for daylight now to enter this home. the second floor, back wall and roof also collapsing we're told. look at the video, you can see how intense this fire was earlier this morning. it started around 1:00. you can see the flames and smoke shooting out of the roof of this home here on the 5600 block of floyd street. the firefighters got to the scene. the one doughs were boarded up from the inside. they tried to break through with axes. they found solid debris through this entire house, tires, wood products ironing boards things of that sort. really all the way through from front to back. it is uncertain at this point if anyone is inside. the firefighters out here on the scene tell me they've been getting conflicted reports wheth

nbc 10's matt delucia is live at einstein medical center where the woman is being treated along with the second victim who is believed to be the father. you learned there are witnesses to the shooting what more can you tell us? >> vai, detectives have been talking with witnesses these past several hours, trying to get better leads on who may have done this and why. this happened just after 10:00 last night on the 7300 block of thuron avenue, that's west oak lane. police arrived to find a man on the sidewalk, shot in both legs. they then saw a woman in a small suv. she was shot in the back. her unborn child did not survive. police are hoping that witnesses can point them in the right direction. >> the witnesses not only heard four or five shots, they heard some sort of argument prior to the schatz being fired. we're not sure at this time what the motive is. it's an investigation in progress. >> and the man we're told is stable here at einstein. the woman is critical. police are telling us the only description at this point of those suspects that they're looking for, possibly two men w
