to talk about that breakthrough let's bring in our business editor, stephen carroll. what is important about the developments now that we are here? stephen: there is a european press conference taking place in brussels, and there is some information coming from that -- i should say, confirmation that alexis tsipras spoke with jean-claude juncker last night to discuss the last-minute offer we are getting. very little detail to be said so we cannot speculate on what may or may not be in that. there has been a lot of movement in the last few hours. we are hearing a proposal that would have involved greece accepting the document that was published on sunday by the european commission. there were still pointed disagreement over things like pensions and how the pension system will be changed as a value added tax is issued as well. the two sides have not agreed on them. if greece were to accept the last-minute proposal, they would have to accept the document and alexis tsipras would have to write and say that he had accepted that document. he would have to campaign for a yes

business news on "france 24" with our very own stephen carroll. talks in the greek debt crisis. how close are we to a deal? stephen: much closer than yesterday. yesterday things were looking more optimistic, but the great run minister, alexis tsipras has lashed out at the monetary fund over the objections raised to the economic reform plan the one discussed in brussels. the plan relies too heavily on tax increases, not enough on spending cuts, and that hurt the greece economy even heard further. that is announced by a lot of banks conducting the analysis. tsipras tweeted that the stance was odd and of they did not want a deal, they were serving a particular interest in greece. genie: that is bound to come up with mr. tsipras meets up with them today. stephen: ahead of a meeting with the eurozone finance ministers scheduled later today, and wall-to-wall meetings will continue, planned for tomorrow. early on, there were just two issues or three issues left in those discussions to be decided, although the head of the eurogroup said there was a lot of

time now for the day's business news with stephen carroll. things are heating up in greece with the greek debt talks as friday's repayment deadline is on the horizon. stephen: it has been a busy 18 hours with a late-night meeting in berlin and a new offer on the table from the greek prime minister. all of the top figures and international lenders were at the meeting monday night. the greek prime ministers says he sent his own proposal for economic reforms that he says is realistic. that is a good sign, according to the european commission. our correspondent has the latest. >> a secret last-minute meeting with some surprise guests. under the cover of darkness angela merkel, francois hollande, and european commission head jean-claude juncker, entered for an emergency meeting on greece. imf chief christine lagarde and mario draghi, the head of the european central bank. while no official details were released greece's main creditors were drafting a common text to send to athens. on tuesday, greece's prime minister says they submitted a realistic
