joining us is deborah hersman. the head of the ntsb, she is now the president of the national safety council. we're going to talk about some of the issues that you dealt with under the ntsb. thank you for joining us. guest: good morning. the mission of the national safety council is making our world safer. they were founded over 100 years ago by the business community they said they needed to take better care of our workers while they are on the job. also, safety in the community and through transportation. host: a weekend of a lot of travel, a lot of people taking time off. what are some of the key summer safety issues that your work addresses? guest: unfortunately we see holiday weekends during the summer like fourth of july, we had friday night, saturday night, we see a lot of people traveling for vacation. and because the economy is getting better and ask prices remain low, the fatalities on the roadways are going up. we have seen in the first 3-4 months of this year, they have gone up. we are seeing potentiall
