patrick's cathedral now where the evening prayer service got underway, kenneth craig joins us live outside st. patrick's. give us some idea who was lucky enough to get inside st. patrick's with the pontiff. >> reporter: well, it's a pretty spectacular sight here at st. patrick's cathedral and it has been since the pope arrived not too long ago. he came down fifth avenue after getting out of his motorcade and transferred to that open air popemobile. he slowly made his way down fifth avenue with thousands of people who had lined the streets to see him and then he arrived right here at st. patrick's. he first got out of the popemobile, was greeted by the mayor, governor and then the crowd erupted in cheer. we were wondering if he was going to interact with the folks outside. he didn't. he gave them a wave. they chanted and cheered and said francisco and he made his way inside those beautiful bronze doors inside st. patrick's cathedral behind me. >> don't worry about it. he will interact with those people. when he first got here, they want to keep him on schedule. he will be out there pressing
