kevin, good morning. what's the very latest? >> reporter: hey, jose. well, that trooper, joseph ponder, was indeed killed overnight after an altercation with a moatitorist on the highw in lion miles northwest of nashville, tennessee. when the trooper pulled over a car, it is alleged by the police that the driver of that car then sped away. a high-speed chase then ensued, went on for about nine minutes with the trooper hot on their tail. that's when the driver of the car apparently slammed on his brakes. there was a bit of an altercation between the two. shots were fired into the trooper's car and we understand that is how trooper ponder lost his life. there was a manhunt that took place overnight. we now understand from the authorities in the area that an arrest has been made in the immediate area near where this shooting took place. and as you've just mentioned, we're now awaiting some news or press conference to get further details on what took place here. >> kevin tibbles, thanks very much. we'll of course keep a close watch on this developing story. >>> developing west, fast moving wildfires continue to spread across northern california. hundreds of homes have already b
