first quickly let's go to cnn's sara murray at the event tonight. it is interesting to see how he's now kind of questioning the scientific merit of some of these polls. >> reporter: yeah, he certainly is, and you know, you can understand why he's confused because he comes to events like this, he draws a bigger crowd than any other republican candidate, and he wonders why it's not showing up in the poll numbers. there was some talking so some of his campaign staff, they say, look, maybe these polls aren't capturing our supporters. trump is drawing a lot of new people into the process. maybe these are people who are not caucused before who will show up for us on election day. trump is certainly not pleased with the numbers. he talked a little bit more about the polls tonight saying, i'm a great christian, evangelicals let me down and basically saying it's terrible to be in second place. this is not where trump wants to be in the first nominating state, anderson. >> there have been questions about whether or not he would basically bypass iowa, give it

sara murray joins us now from greenville, south carolina, to dig into allnumbers for us. what do you see. >> it's interesting when you go beyond the top line, this huge republican field while at times can look chaotic but it does look like it's driving enthusiasm among republicans. if you look at how enthusiastic voters are, 68% of republicans say they're enthusiastic compared to 58% for democrats. that's a pretty wide gap. it goes up the forthwe get closer to the election. look back in september, the enthusiasm number for republicans was 65%. it does seem like a big field could ultimately benefit the republicans. i want to dig in on sort of the gender gap we've been looking at amongst some of the republican candidates. we talked for a while about whether trump might struggle with women because of some of the more inflammatory comments he's made about them. both trump and ben carson are drawing 23% of support for women. they're ahead of the pack there. if you look at the men, trump has a wide lead over carson. that certainly seems to be where he has an edge over his most

sara sidner, thank you. i want to bring in congressman tim murray, republican in pennsylvania, a practicing psychologist. when we look at what we know about the shooter, where are the red flags? where do you think it's possible his mother or father or society could have stepped in and said this person needs help? >> red flags start early on, documentation he was receiving special education help, perhaps behavioral problems there would have been discussions what his behavior was, what sensitivity he had to other people, hopefully people looking, any signs of aggressiveness, loneliness, alienation. once someone turns 21, everything is dropped. the support services are gone. consultation with parents, disappears. in fact, they might have stopped telling the mother anything when he turned 17 or 18 or so. and that's when the problems or hippa laws end. she would not have known. >> health privacy laws. >> would not have learned about than she could not have inquired about that. and worse yet, a doctor would not have been able to call her and say, can you tell me, i want to know about some other things about hi
