i'm from los angeles, and i can tell you i've been downtown l.a. many times. homelessness problem in los angeles and especially for veterans, young veterans in particular, is extremely significant. and a lot of work being done by private organizations and partnering with the v.a. indeed to try and find solutions to that. but this gets back to what we're talking about. america's veterans population is a very dynamic always-moving population. people constantly get out of the military. they constantly, over the last 14 years, have come home from america's wars, and many of them do face a number of challenges that grow over time. they don't always get better. sometimes they do, thankfully. so this is the population that we will have in this country now for many years to come. america's veterans from iraq and afghanistan will be with this country proudly for many decades. and that hand is going to have to be reached out to help those who may need it. >> ladies and gentlemen, the president of the united states.
