here to talk about it is dr. jill the most mellow cat i have met. >> unlike cubby who was restless last week. >> let's talk about feline infectious peritonitis. >> it's my least favorite disease that cats get. i don't think any veterinarian likes it. it's caused by the coronavirus. fip is uniformly lethal. we don't have any good way to test for it. we have some tests that give us the sense of they might have it. we call it a rule-out disease. if the pet is sick, call if you have any change in the pets at aller we basically try to rule out everything and if we find they don't have metabolic or bacterial infection or intestinal disease or whatever, then fip becomes very high on our list. some of the symptoms can be that they are very lethargic, don't want to eat. if they have the wet form they will have an abdomen that fills up with fluid or have trouble breathing if the fluid is in the chest. we are not exactly sure 100% how it's transmitted but it's definitely through the feces and so there's some thought that contami
