we do see more patients who are responding to treatment for melanoma. and that appears to be the case here as well. >> wow. okay. so my colleague, nick valencia, is with me here. you can better pronounce this type of experimental drug for me. >> pembrolizumab. pembrolizumab. >> it's a tongue twister. it's called pembrolizumab. it is one of the drugs that had been approved recently for the treatment of patients with metastatic melanoma. but we have to remember that president cater also had that liver tumor resected and he did get radiation therapy to the brain. but the purpose of this drug is to perhaps help with those -- sort of mop up those lesions but perhaps more importantly it's designed to help treat cancer cells wherever they may be in his body. again, excellent news, best possible outcome. as to what precisely caused this, whether it was the surgery and the radiation, how much did the pembrolizumab help, we can't say for certain. and we're certainly hopeful that it is effective in treating other areas of cancer or cancer cells that may be in hi b

first he had the melanoma that spread to his liver removed. and then the brain lesions where the melanoma where it had spread, they were eradiated with radiation. that exactly focuses the radiation on just those spots and he's been getting a therapy drug just approved last year. it's an anti body that takes system allowing it to go after the cancer cells. >> so when you hear cancer- free, you think wow. cured. is that necessarily the case? >> unfortunately, not exactly, no. cancer-free doesn't mean cured. it could still theoretically come back. these therapy drugs have revolutionized the treatment of mel melanoma. before that, he would have had a life span in weeks or months. these drugs are so new that we don't know how long the effect play laughs. but early patients have survived so far for two years or more. we'll see. he's getting this treatment -- it's an ivive fusion about every three weeks. >> excellent news. as long as he keeps working, he will keep getting the drug and hopefully it will keep everything in check. not on the field but r
