danielle and cindy are both here danielle: welcome back. i'm meteorologist danielle vollmar. we are tracking snow heading in our direction. right now all this you're seeing on radar not actually making it to the ground because our air is so dry. i do want to point out that the winds are starting to gust to 30 miles an hour on nantucket and to 28 miles an hour now on cape cod. begin to go see the winds starting to ramp up. they are going to continue to ramp up as they head through the afternoon and into this evening and really blow anywhere from 30-40 miles per hour sustained. guffs to near 50 if not above i think on cape cod. notice the starts for you folks as early as about lunchtime, i think, on the cape, the south coast and the islands but it will take a little longer for boston to see it. and places north and west may not see anything at all especially you folks in new hampshire. northern mass a low chance. really a medium chance in the boston metro area. you go south of boston, the cape and the islands and that's where the storm impacts are the greatest and the snow tota

danielle: welcome back. i'm meteorologist danielle vollmar. so far for our winter months, december and january, we're running well above normal. we're actually on our way to a number-one spot at 38.5 degrees. now we are below normal for seasonal snowfall. that is what we were predicting when we were looking ahead to this all-important winter. temperatures are on the way up too as we head into the month of february. by sunday, 50 degrees. by monday, 55 degrees. back we're in the 40's. we should be running around 36 degrees this time of year. as we head towards monday one thing i want to talk about is we are going to get pretty close to record high temperatures. the record in worcester is actually 61. the record in boston is 66. not necessarily going to make it into the 60's but we will be in the mid 50's which we'll enjoy. antoinette and doug. doug: danielle, thank you. a college student from new england took his turn swimming with the sharks antoinette: shaan patel pitched his secrets for the perfect s.a.t. score on abc's shark tank. >> many o

danielle and cindy standing by danielle: we will back. i'm meteorologist danielle vollmar. the snow is starting to fly especially in new york city back to jersey, philadelphia, d.c. and baltimore. getting closer to us. now get to go the south coast of connecticut where visibilities are starting to drop down especially there. about a mile even now on block island. beginning to snow there. not necessarily on the vineyard although it appears to be. the air is still too dry with visibles at 10 miles. as we go through the next 12 hours in boston notice these winds are going to pick up. the snow doesn't start flying until the afternoon in boston. it will be flying sooner for you folks the farther south you go. because it's flying sooner and continuing longer, you're going to have the highest impacts in terms of snowfall totals as well as the wind and even the potential for coastal flooding. when all is said and done, obviously boston is in about the two-inch band. north of it 0-2. 2-5 the farther south you go and then 5-10 inches in this deeper blue and obviously 10 inches plus i

here's danielle. danielle: doug, karen, good morning. we're starting off with temperatures in the 20's and 30's. it is 26 degrees this morning in worcester. it is 29 right now in plymouth. 31 in boston. but temperatures today are going to warm up with some sunshine as we head through the afternoon. the other big player is this. we have winds out of the west. they're anywhere from 10-15 miles an hour. that's where they're going to hang around all day long so that creates what's known as a wind chill. that wind chill will be with us throughout the entire afternoon. with those winds anywhere from 10-15 it's going to make it feel more like the 20's all day long although temperatures today should warm up into the mid to upper 30's to even 40 degrees in some locations. now the big story this morning, some of this may be making it to the ground. some of this may be in the higher atmosphere and drying out because we have very dry air over top of us. but we are watching a system up to the north and west. you can see this. this is going to bring i
